It’s barely 2 star. Access is not good for an 80 year old, my case was carried up to my room on arrival. Room was clean, plenty of clean towels, tea and coffee, milk, and bottled water. This was essential as the water from the tap in the bathroom was undrinkable. I never had Wi-fi and to make matters worse my tv didn’t work. I reported it at 6.30 pm on the first night. Nothing was done, when I returned on Wednesday evening it still was not working, 2 very nice young guys came up and eventually worked out the hand set needed new batteries. These were obtained and tv was working. Although on a main road it was not noisy. I really feel this hotel is grossly overpriced.

Conveniance to attend function in local. Literally only slepr in hotel and left early next day so unable to provide effective feedback.
Booked hotel as restaurant amenity available. When arrived told no restaurant with delay in checking in. No apology made. Room needed updating and mattress uncomfortable
Have stayed here a few times & it is clear that a lot of money is being invested as it gets slowly better every time. The staff are always friendly & very helpful. hotel is old but comfortable & clean. Look forward to returning when more food is available.
With an old building it comes with squeaky floor boards. Could hear footsteps from the room above me. Which seemed to go on throughout the night.
I’ve stayed at this property multiple times and never had a major issue. However, on this occasion I spent 2 nights without any hot water and therefore no ability to wash. I mentioned to reception after the first night, expecting it to be resolved but it was not. I was told to email them after the second night to discuss compensation and whilst the beginning of the conversation was good it amounted to very little. I was promised “head office” would be in touch to resolve the situation, which didn’t happen. Rather than any compensation I was then offered a discount on my next nights stay, totalling a measly £11 discount, which felt like a further insult after not being able to wash for 3 days. Steer clear at all costs!
Just a quick stay but very comfortable
Hotel Inspector would’ve had a field day with this one. Weird little staircase to rooms (unsuitable if you have mobility issues) Dirty room with ill fitting carpet, dirty, stained bathroom, I especially regretted lifting up the toilet brush to use it. Windows don’t fit so it’s drafty and they didn’t lock - room leads to a fire escape so someone could have easily broken in from outside. Staff didn’t speak good English, but they did manage to convey that front door would be locked from 10pm and that I could use my room key to open it. I immediately knew that wasn’t going to work (I did try and fail at 9.50pm) so I opened my window and literally clambered back in, essentially breaking in to my own room. Classic!
