Holbrook Manor & Spa

I stayed just the one night and have no complaints

Like all older hotels it has some issues regarding the hot water in the bathroom, but there was a notice explaining the problem

For us it would have been a very bad stay if the staff didn’t let us know change rooms to two rooms in the Manor House for the next night. The two rooms there are lovely, big and comfortable. The Manor House rooms saved the day and if you are going to stay here then I would recommend staying in the Manor House. High ceilings, large beds. Clean modern bathroom. Lovely views of the garden. Makes you feel like lord of the manor.

We were staying in the garden view rooms and I didn’t realise that it would be almost disconnected from the main Manor House. You went to room from the outside almost like an American style motel. I wasn’t sure I liked this as it didn’t have much security, the area was quite run down. The tennis court that I saw pictures of on the booking was completely overgrown and there was no net and you couldn’t use it. The lock on our bathroom window was broken so it could be opened from the outside. The front door to our room had some glass in it so basically anyone could just look into your room from outside.

We arrived at Holbrook with low expectations due to some of the recent comments. We had booked a Groupon spa day and a separate B&B stay. We were really surprised and had a really pleasant experience and comfortable stay. The lunch was simple but tasty and completely within what you would expect for a lunch and spa voucher. The massage and relaxation areas were great. The overnight stay was very comfortable and the room was clean and tidy, and it had everything we needed. The breakfast was a bit disappointing, not so much in selection which was very satisfactory, but the taste was a bit bland. The staff were all nice and helpful. All in all, we really enjoyed a nice relaxing stay.

The breakfast could be improved, but more in taste rather than selection. We also unfortunately found some chewing gum in the fresh towels in our room. We also arrived when a swimming aerobics class was taking place so it was a bit noisy in the spa areas and relaxation rooms for a bit.

Was in a chalet the opposite side to the main Manor House. Reception check in inside the busy leisure club … how very unprofessional as gym members are walking past constantly and this lets the Manor House ambiance down. Didnt sleep a wink all night as outside my chalet is a very noisey metal generator with the doors open & off the hinges. Made a terrific vibrating noise & doesnt stop day or night. Ruined my over night stay & what i thought should of been a quiet country Manor House. And of course with little to no sleep with a 6 hour drive ahead of me in the morning you can imagine how i felt. Left a message for the Manager to ring or email me so i can complain & its now 5 days later & heard nothing.

The location and surroundings were beautiful, the views and experience of staying in the house was lovely! Parking was really easy and the pool was great. Room and shower were lovely!

The third bed we had in our room was really uncomfortable - it wasn't even flat, it went up in the middle. The room was huge so could have easily had a lovely sofa bed in it. The breakfast was disappointing and service was non-existent.

Location , Staff very good It’s a bit on the shabby side of shabby /chic but comfortable the beds especially but overall it is value for money

Everything has seen better days it’s all in need of maintenance but it’s clean and kinda characterful

The bedroom and bathroom were very large and the bed extremely comfortable. The swimming pool, hot tub and steam room were good, and the car parking was easy and close to the entrance to the hotel.

The complimentary dressing gowns for the spa were too small and threadbare. The breakfast was average, and the staff were not very smiley or particularly helpful.
