What a gem in Colombo. The Taprobane House felt like home to me shortly after entering. It has a very special vibe, very warm and attentive staff, and food to die for. Definitely my new favorite hotel when I'm in the capital.

I wish I could live here. I love it so much. The staff are so friendly & chatty, but they never have made me feel imposed on or uncomfortable. The only place that serves one of my comfort meals—toast with beetroot & poached eggs. The rooms are clean & helps my very sensitive allergies settle. There are rarely any loud sounds coming from the outside at night, but if there was, I feel the staff would proactively handle it. The chefs are so nice & passionate about their work. I was happy to review their experimental dishes during my second stay. The rough bathroom floor as so nice since I tend to slip a lot. The body lotion smells like floral incense & I love it very much.

During both times of my stay, there were very delibitating issues. No vegetables, construction going on right outside my room or above. The noise was very loud and constant, & I'm vegetarian. I'm not sure where to stay comfy while the room is being serviced, so I ended up not getting it during both my stays. I wish there were more vegetarian dishes to choose from. Parking is difficult since none of the taxis actually park into the small area they provide, & that road is tiny. It causes me a lot of anxiety since I hate inconviniencing other people. The wifi isn't great so I just relied on my data.

Excellent airy and modern boutique hotel. Convenient to get around Colombo and with Barefoot and Gallery Cafe around the corner. Hotel and restaurant are a nice respite from the hustle and bustle of Colombo streets. Rooftop pool has nice view to the ocean and feels very private. Excellent option in Colombo.
