The Grand Riad and Spa

My first time in a Riad and we were made to feel part of the family in the sense of the care afforded us, from meeting us on arrival to walk us to the Riad to organising a fabulous day trip and of course sumptuous breakfasts.

That we only had 4 nights!

Attentive staff, great food and great hospitality. The property is towards the edges of the Medina so it’s easy to take a cab anywhere.

Our room was very noisy at night. Thankfully I brought earplugs otherwise I would not have been able to sleep. The rooms are small so pack light. Not recommended for a long stay.

This was hands-down the worst experience of our entire three-week trip to Morocco — and the price was far from cheap. The room smelled strongly of dampness and humidity the whole time. The bathroom was covered in mold, and the furniture was cheap and broken (see photos). The service was equally disappointing. On the day we checked out, the female receptionist was extremely aggressive and stared at us intensely simply because we politely asked to leave our luggage behind the reception desk for a few hours. After a strong discussion, she finally agreed. However, when we returned to collect it, she was disrespectful again — she completely ignored us and refused to acknowledge us, even after I greeted her with a hello. We would never recommend this place to anyone.

It was very nice once you got inside , and also in the main court yard area

We wanted to stay in the main hussle and bustle but wasn’t expecting , or aware how dilapidated the town is , we should have done more research as the area was very dirty and run down , and on arrival was being asked for money and followed by locals ,however once inside the riad it was like a fortress within , it is also located right next to the local mosque so be prepared for a very early wake up call daily, and with the design of the hotel the main dining area is in the centre so you hear everyone else within the hotel . I think stay a a hotel and visit the Riad for one or two nights is my opinion based on the stay, but the staff where very friendly.
