L'Antica Conceria

Good breakfast selection. We had the room with the large water cistern as a bathroom and a little grassy area with an amazing view. It was perfect and a great respite after a long day of touring. Our host was excellent, probably the best I have ever had. He is very proud of his property and also was very invested in giving us a perfect itinerary and things to do each day. We loved his recommendations and because of them, felt that we really saw Matera and did not need a guided tour. As a travel advisor I have stayed in many places and analyze them not only for my self but my clients as well. This truly is a 10 out of 10. If you have a car there is a carpark right across the way, very convenient. I will send my clients to this place as it is the perfect location. You get a genuine feel for Matera, stay in a unique cave like experience with an amazing host and a wonderful room. It's honestly perfect. As a note. Because you are staying in the Sassi cave dwelling there are many stairs, so this is not a place for those with limited mobility. Matera in general is one big stairmaster.

Geweldige locatie, op loopafstand van het centrum. De kamer was luxe en zeer fraai gedecoreerd. Dit was werk van een perfectionist. Aan alles is werkelijk gedacht. Het ontbijt was geweldig goed verzorgd en ontbrak ons aan niets. Vers fruit ( zeer gevarieerd en uitgebreid, zoetigheden, heerlijke yoghurt brood en beleg soorten) Alles mooi uitgestald en met zorg en liefde gepresenteerd. Martino, de gastheer was een top gastheer en heeft ons van alle goede tips over de stad en reserveringen voorzien. Zeer zorgzaam en betrokken! Ik had graag een 10 ++ gegeven want dit maak je zelden mee.

Lovely quiet location with magnificent views over the valley. Martino, the owner of the property met us at the gate and helped carry our suitcases down the stairs. The breakfast every morning was lovely. The day we were leaving we could not work out how to exit the public car park across from the apartment. A quick message to Martino and he was there in 5 minutes to show us how to exit. He was the perfect host.

I would give this place a 10 out of 10 without hesitation. The location is perfect for exploring Matera. Everything is exceptionally clean, and the quality is outstanding in every aspect—from the breakfast and housekeeping to the service, furniture, and bed linens. Above all, the kindness and dedication of the host are truly remarkable. He genuinely cares about his guests and is always willing to help with recommendations and suggestions for enjoying Matera. I highly recommend staying here and would gladly return.

Can’t say enough good things about our stay. The rooms seamlessly combine the iconic Matera cave charm with modern elegance, and the terrace view over the gorge at sunset is absolutely breathtaking. The location made exploring the Sassi easy, and having parking nearby was a bonus. Breakfast was fantastic, especially the local focaccia and ricotta. But what made this stay truly special was Martino, the owner. He made us feel at home, taking time to share with us the must-dos around Matera with genuine care and passion for his city. A stay we’ll never forget!

The Perfect Place to Experience Matera. We had an absolutely wonderful stay at L'Antica Conceria. The property is stunningly beautiful, perched on the edge of a hill with breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside and a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. The location is excellent, just a short walk from Matera's historic center and the main points of interest, making it easy to explore the city on foot. Martino was an exceptional host. He warmly welcomed us and went above and beyond to make sure we had the best possible experience. He generously shared his knowledge of Matera, recommended places to visit, things to see, and local restaurants, and truly cared about helping us make the most of our stay. The rooms were spotless, spacious, and full of character, featuring the beautiful stone architecture that is so typical of Matera. They felt both authentic and comfortable. The breakfast was also excellent. We highly recommend L'Antica Conceria to anyone looking for a unique, authentic, and memorable stay in Matera. We would gladly return in the future!

Ein Traum bei Martino untergebracht zu sein. Wir haben noch nie einen so tollen und engagierten und herzlichen Gastgeber gehabt. Martino nimmt sich für jeden Gast individuell Zeit, versorgt einen mit unbezahlbaren Tipps und versucht einem die Geschichte von Matera so nahe wie möglich zu bringen.Wir haben in der kurzen Zeit von 3 Tagen alle seine Tipps befolgt und so sehr sehr viel über Matera erfahren, interessante Stationen, alle fußläufig erreichbar,, und traumhafte Ausblicke erleben dürfen., immer darauf bedacht in unserem Tempo, piano.... Die Unterkunft ist ein Traum, liebevoll bis ins Detail, passend zu Matera ,gestaltet. Die Lage perfekt. Parkgarage in der Nähe auch für unser 2,40m hohes Auto befahrbar !! Das Frühstück wunderbar für den Start in den Tag und für Matera. Trotz Sprachbarriere,da wir nicht gut italienisch können, war Martino immer bemüht uns alles zu vermitteln und gab uns noch Tipps für die Weiterreise. Matera muss man wirklich erleben, wir kommen sicher wieder, mit ein paar Tage mehr Zeit und nur bei Martino....Piano....;-) !

The parking station was excellent. The accommodation was about a 5 min walk to the old town. But if you stayed in the old town it would be a hassle to park. This location was perfect. The bed was comfy. The view was great. A nice area to sit and have evening drinks. The room was beautiful, the breakfast was very good and the host was a wealth of information and would have been willing to assist with any need.
