18 Horner Street

A large, comfortable house that was perfect for our needs for one night in town. It's in a standard, residential area but the Sainbury's on the corner was useful and there was a nice cafe too.

I highly recommend this Airbnb. The location is great—just a 25-minute walk from the city center, and considering how beautiful the city is, the walk is definitely worth it. We were a group of five, and everything was very clean. The place was well-equipped with coffee, water, and the bathroom had shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hot water, and a working central heater (which is a big plus for me, especially after some bad experiences with other Airbnbs where the heating didn’t work and we were cold, unable to shower because there was no hot water). It was a 25 min walk into York Centre

The email said we could drop bags off at 12 to find that this had to be "pre-arranged". When we checked in after 3 we found the following; - Stains on the sofa, one being blood or ketchup - A filthy washing up sponge, no replacements available - No handsoap in the bathroom - Stains on the duvet - Bed downstairs was a sofa bed which was slanted, very uncomfortable and next to a burning hot radiator that couldnt be turned off - Cabinet in the downstairs bedroom isnt secure and held up with a peice of cardboard wedged under it - Bed in the far bedroom upstairs was very uncomfortable and could feel the slats under the mattress - Noisy Street outside - Not enough comfortable seating downstairs - Water pooling in the fridge - Cracks in the kitchen cupboard - Cracks around windows - Door off the freezer - Cracked fridge door - Bathroom window wouldnt shut properly - Coffee table was wobbly with a loose screw placed under it - Only left 1 key when email said 2 keys Seems very much like someone has bought the home for holiday lets, spent the bare minimum and thrown it together. Weve paid much less for a much better well kept holiday property that felt more like a home and was much more wellkept and cleaner. Even with a dvd player, board games included Wouldnt be using this specific place again. We chose this one as having disabled elderley parents the downstairs bedroom and bathroom seemed perfect for them.

Lovely house overall - bedrooms were a great size, all 3 had double beds in and plenty of space for luggage etc. Location was good, a Sainsbury’s local on the corner and a 6 min Uber to the centre of York. Would probably be in walking distance but we didn’t walk due to the weather. Clean throughout, bedding and towels clean and fresh. Essentials like tea / coffee / toilet rolls provided. Hosts checked in with us mid-stay which was appreciated. Check in / out info came through in plenty of time with clear instructions.

The kettle was in desperate need of de-scaling, so much so that we decided against using it which was a shame. When we arrived, the house was really really cold. We turned the thermostat up to 25 from less than 10 but then realised 20 mins later that all the radiators had been turned off as well so we had to go round turning them on. It took ages for the house to warm up. In colder weather, it would be better for the radiators to be left on and the thermostat set to min 15 in preparation for guests checking in.

All looked a bit tired -was further from city centre than I thought- my fault on that. No dining table - not great when 5 wanted breakfast

We adored our stay at the house! It felt just like a cozy home away from home. Every morning, we woke up to the delightful aroma of the Bosch Tassimo coffee, which made our mornings even brighter and set the perfect tone for all our exciting adventures ahead. It was nothing short of pure happiness! We can't wait to come back again!
