Easy to find, upon arrival I was greeted by Harold, he has great local knowledge and was very helpful. The rooms form part of a shared guest house, the lounge, kitchen area is shared, my room 'rosemary' had an ensuite shower room. It is all very tastefully decorated, very clean. Harold told me of his plans to further expand the business, i shall return when next in the area.

THERE WAS NO BATHROOM DOOR ON THE ENSUITE, JUST A VERTICAL BLIND, NOT PRIVATE AT ALL. On arrival, at about 4 pm, the guest accommodation was freezing, the owner told us that the heating was due to go on shortly, but he went and switched it on when I said how it was cold. Arrival at the property was 3 pm onwards - It would be nice to walk into warm accommodation when the temperature outside in the middle of February is 3°C or below (the frost alarm on our car had gone on) and we were expected. From the description of accommodation in booking.com it was to have a bedroom with a private bathroom well it wasn't private, just separated by a vertical blind where there should be a door. The ensuite opening is right next to the side of the bed, and was totally inadequate. If anyone needs the ensuite during the night, the light disturbs the person in bed. It's unhygienic and unpleasant and embarrassing, both sounds and smells, it certainly lacks privacy... Horrible! The accommodation was clean, otherwise. We didn't use the rest of the house. Who checks the properties that booking.com advertises? It's weird that a bathroom which does not have a door is an acceptable standard. We are going to be very wary in the future wherever we book, I hadn't critically looked at the pictures to see if a bathroom door was evident, it's something you expect. We did talk to the owner about it when he asked us if we liked our room. He went and checked his advert photos after questioning why hadn't we seen it in the photos when we booked. Apparently, the photos were out of date (prior to the vertical blinds being put up, there was nothing at all). Advice about attaching a sliding door onto the bedroom side was suggested to the owner so you never know there might be actual bathroom doors in time.

The warm welcome how everything was explained and shown how everything works how the owner made contact as we missed him when we left said we are definitely going to book again The place is so lovely and clean it's so nice to walk in the garden the view is beautiful for what is on offer this place should be a. 10 star rating.

There is nothing to dislike about this place it's so home from home

Me and my girlfriend came here for our valentines day and we had the greatest time everything was clean and the garden looked beautiful and We plan to visit again.

There is nothing to not like about the property.

The room was nice, the whole building looked nice and updated and the garden was lovely

The only thing I would say is that it got very cold on our stay, sometimes the radiator was on but then sometimes it went off and when it was off it was Baltic!

Greeting on arrival - NOT!..Here I have traveled 4,000 miles arrive at primarily unlit guest house except  lights around edge of roof.Description would be "2 closed iron gates" set back from a blind curve The 1st words "who are you" - Not :Hi,are you __?welcome we have been expecting you - NOT! ...Here I am driving newly washed hire car speaking in a American accent - huh? easy math"there are 3 guest rms,1 is occupied and only 2" rms r booked for that night I'm her guest  --still no welcome I'm then showed the unlit guest house,during being told the rules of the house a 20 yr old from rm @rear of house top of stairs appears and introduced as ---This is my first foray as what only can be described as a frat house :20yr old my resident RA from my university days (48 yrs ago) I'm 66 yrs old.After staying there a few days I noted that my every move watched and  reported to the absent owner operator as though I were a child.Days into my stay I arrive back @guest house/Dorm  after a long day and RA asked will I be grocery shopping because he is in need of items? IN Closing I found dried food (solid mass?)in carpet @ bed,carpet stains,food/mold/hair in bath months old,vertical blinds as bath dr,If you are 6ft tall bath vanity is so close to toilet it's necessary to sit on toilet @ angle,because a weekend warrior(handyman) did bath remod tiles on floor are loose + grout is cracked,temp in rm is controlled by locked closet down stairs & 1wk into stay temp in rm dropped to 5 celsius

Very nicely designed and generally comfortable and well equipped. Host very helpful. Would be great for a family.

Only a blind, not a door, on our ensuite. A little more of a scrub needed to kitchen drawers and equipment.

Harold was a lovely host! It’s a beautiful property in a lovely location. The house was very clean. I was the only guest staying that day so had the entire shared living room to myself. There is no door on the bathroom it’s just blinds you might want to consider that if you’re travelling with someone. Overall a good experience. The host was prompt in communication and checkin was a breeze. Would definitely rebook when I go to Durham next time.
