Waldorf Astoria Helsinki

A world-class hotel with stunning unique rooms, excellent service and a wonderful spa area. Will definitely stay here again next time I go to work in Helsinki. What did come to mind was that the room key didn’t work for certain locked corridors and the stairwell that led to the hotel room, which meant that you had to take detours to the hotel room, sometimes outside, which was a bit frustrating as I had quite a few bags.

Such a lovely stay on my birthday! The staff was amazing and all the smallest details were right spot on! My birthday was taken into account several times during our stay and this is something that we are not used to in Finland - Thank you! Room was spacious with lovely details and amneties. Decor of the room was harmonious giving modern luxus feeling. Spa experience was aslo amazing! Every step of the spa experience was relaxing and felt like everything was designed just for you. Followed by fine dining experience in Restaurant Lilja - menu full of suprising tastes with thoughtful service and well decided wine pairing made my day! Breakfast met the expectations of 5 star hotel - table served with top quality products and service. Thank you for such a memorable stay!

Beautiful hotel with well designed spacious rooms and all the desired amenities and services. Great location which is near to the desired sites, shopping, and restaurants. Public transportation, which is easy to use, was also in close proximity to the hotel. Breakfast and dinner were both excellent. Staff and concierge were very helpful when needed.

We enjoyed excellent four course fine dining experience at Lilja Restaurant. All was perfect. Thank you. Nice and beautiful setting and ambience as well deco. We recommend newly opened and nicely renovated restaurant and Hotel Maria. Just amazing.

Kan varmt anbefale hotellet. Super venligt og hjælpsomt personale. Værelset var ikke for småt og ikke for stort. Bad var også helt i top. Det fremstår tydligt at det er et nyt hotel. Alt spiller. Spa afdelingen er også rigtig god og kan også anbefales. Helt klart et hotel jeg kommer tilbage til.

Beautiful hotel in a very nice area, quiet and convenient location. Room servicing bit hit and miss, which let it down slightly, but reception responded appropriately.

Hotel Maria is an exceptionally elegant hotel in the residential neighborhood of Helsinki but close enough to Senate Square and Market Square (about a 8-10 minute walk). It used to be the building of the Finnish Department of Forestry & Agriculture. Currently, it’s reputed to be the best (highest-end) hotel in the capital. The Reception area is a few steps up and to the right. We were booked at the Serene Suite. Let me itemize all the pluses of this beautiful hotel: • All-white interiors, with marble flooring in anteroom and bathroom, including anteroom and bedroom carpeting. This was in contrast to the cabinetry (wardrobe-coffee-ref, night table and work desk, which was finished in grayish brown and the bedroom floor, which was made of wooden tiles. • Very large T&B, all in marble, with two (his and hers) wash basins which we always appreciate, a separate toilet enclosure with its own wash basin, a nice shower stall with glass on two sides, and a compelling bath tub which my wife just had to try. In addition, a separate powder room with toilet and wash basin. Also, Bulgari toiletries. And high quality towels and robes (and several towels at that). • A tablet controls a lot of things in the room – lights, AC, audio, TV. • High ceiling, also done in white. And windows with off-white curtains that go up and down by push button. This in addition to the horizontal curtains. • Four poster bed (although without any draperies) and a very high bed, which made my wife feel like a queen. In front of it, a beautiful ‘fake’ fireplace with realistic fire, embers and smoke. And tasteful fireplace mantel décor. • Modern Finnish-design lights, made of stainless steel and glass, including bedroom chandelier, night stand lights, anteroom floor standing lamp, anteroom table lamps • Piped-in music in all the rooms, which you could turn off or on via the remote control tablet. We set it on at low volume for night muted classical music. Nice. • Great fine dining outlet (Lilja) with two types of tasting menus. The waiters were all very professional and enthusiastic. • Impressive breakfast in the Garden Terrace, with extra egg menu, and waitresses who serve coffee, juices and water – wow! The fare was decently extensive, with good selection of fruits and vegetables – although I missed having sausages). • Reception staff and doormen were all very impressive – very fluent in English, very polite and cheery, and were always smiling. On the wish list – 1) that housekeeping be more alert when the levels of body wash in the shower stall is already running out; 2) fix some minor leaks in the shower – water slowly leaked after my shower into the wash basin floor; 3) the controls of the vertical curtains should allow partial close or open, and could be replaced by translucent material instead of blackout material, since the horizontal curtains are already blackout material; 4) move the remote control tablet attached magnetically to the bedroom wall about three inches further – it always gets hit when we open the wardrobe cabinet and falls to the floor; 5) suite guests should probably have free access to the sauna. 6) There should be instructions for using the smart toilets. Great that the toilet seat senses you and automatically lifts up but the remote control for the bidet and other functions seemingly wouldn’t work so we knew we weren’t doing it right.

This is a lovely hotel that recently had its grand opening. There are 4 separate buildings, two restaurants and two bars. We had a large deluxe room with lovely linens and towels and a 2 sink bathroom with a separate large bathtub, lighted makeup mirror,and glass enclosed stall shower. Excellent water pressure and good AC. There are lots of outlets both bedside and desk and in bath for all of your electronic devices and all lights, music etc. are controlled by a tablet device in the room. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We were in building 3 and there are a few steps to enter the buildings. The room also had a sofa for seating, safe, nice sized closet and a few drawers. The room is well lit. The breakfast buffet was good and eggs were made well. My husband had sent his laundry to the hotel laundry and whoever they used did not get stain out of his shirt but I did when we got home….so a wasted laundry bill. We also had lunch outside one day on the terrace and salad and sandwich were good. I would highly recommend this hotel.
