Staðarflöt Apartments

DO NOT BOOK HERE. Didn't send me the promised check-in email, couldn't get into our room, and ended up driving another hour north for a room. Called repeatedly and zero communication.

(Io ho contattato la struttura circa 2h prima del mio arrivo, dopo un’ora circa di mancata riposta ho contattato Expedia che in 5 minuti mi ha dato numero di appartamento e codice per l’ingresso) Per il resto non ho nulla di cui lamentarmi, l’appartamento è come descritto, ha tutto ciò che è necessario per cucinare e un bagno spazioso

Facilities were okay. Good for one night

The self check-in was super weird. Would not recommend this place if you are planning on arriving after 21:00. Received no reaction for my request to check in between 21-22, despite asking numerous times. Then we ensured we got there before 21:00 because we couldn’t cancel the accommodation anymore. We called the number 5 times but nobody picked up. Then we walked into the building to ask and the staff told us “he was not a manager” (in an unfriendly way) but did arrange the code for self check-in for us. We received a code for self check-in, which could have easily be sent online beforehand. Kitchenette was nice to have but very impractical (small knives, one stove pit).

Siamo arrivati e non era presente nessuno in reception, c'era molta confusione perchè varie persone cercavano la Direzione. La comunicazione è stata altrettanto confusionaria. Il pavimento della stanza scricchiolava moltissimo, ma abbiamo apprezzato le grandi vetrate dietro al letto che in caso di aurora permettono di ammirarla al meglio.

Do not book this place. As you can see from other reviews as well, the check in process is impossible. No contact before we arrived, and no one at reception. There is a sign with a number at the reception but no phone to call from. We had to use our overseas phone, incurring roaming charges, but the manager will not pick up. In the end, a builder had to call the manager on a private line and were provided with a room that did not have a kitchenette as we had booked. We complained to the worker who said it was not an issue and we had to call the manager. We tried again and she did not pick up. At this point, another couple were having the same issue. As we were both complaining to the worker, he locked himself away and stopped talking to us so we had nowhere to stay. We had to call the police to try to get the issue sorted but they could not do anything. In the end, we were all refused a room, and had to travel 2 hours to Reykjavik to find another apartment. Do not book - you will have no communication with anyone at all (not even on the phone or online), and the rooms you get will not have a kitchen or even basic utilities (kettle, microwave etc).

They expect the owner to be called on arrival when the keys are there and the staff were not forthcoming

The wifi was shut down in the morning and the water got over before we checked out.

Spacious with a little kitchen, a bathroom. The owners were very reactive, we booked in the afternoon pour the same night. Self check in

The location is convenient to the ring road. It seemed to have a little more room than many other places.

It wasn't clear where the room was. Thankfully there was someone in the main building to direct us. It is not real close to most shopping needs, so plan for that.

Liked having the kitchenette.

Didn’t like having to call when we arrived to find out our room # and code to get into the room. Would be much more convenient to have it provided before arrival or have someone at reception.
