The staff were friendly and tried hard but didn't really know what they were doing.

We stayed at Tulip Hotel for 3 nights. Would we stay there again? No. The location: It seemed a little out of the way. If you’re wanting something within close walking distance to the middle of town/where the action is, we would recommend something closer to the night market. Having said that, the drive - although quite rough, is doable if you have a scooter, bike, or car. The food: we opted for the ‘breakfast included’ option - do not do this. The food was the worst food we have eaten in Laos. However! We did purchase a coffee (only instant coffee was included in the breakfast, and we needed the real deal) - it wasn’t bad! We also purchased a plate of French fries - also good! If you’re looking for some tasty Laos food though, we recommend skipping this hotel for food and heading for the market/night market and surrounding restaurants. The room: the bed was comfortable and the bedroom was spacious. The bathroom, however, was revolting. Falling apart, really badly built, covered in mould, with badly blocked drains. The bum gun could strip the paint off an old Datsun. The air-conditioning worked well, however we did need to change rooms after one night as our first room’s aircon was absolutely pissing out with water…speaking of pissing - The cherry on top of our stay would have to be our last night when we were tucked up in bed and fast asleep at 12:30am, and a young, incredibly drunk Chinese man broke into our room and started pissing in the bathroom sink. Good times…not. The staff were friendly, but some places just give you the ick, you know, would not recommend.

The Tulip Hotel is very nice, the rooms are large and clean. The staff was very nice and helpful. Our children really enjoyed the play paradise and the replica waterfall. However, to get into town you have to take a cab, which takes about 10 minutes.

It is far to the city

I find it very difficult to rate this property. It is by the airport, which is a distance from town where there are guesthouses, but I don’t know how you would book them and they don’t look to be at the standard of the Tulip. The hotel is in some sort of bug field which meant there were hundreds of bugs of various shapes and sizes in the hotel, including dozens in our room. Breakfast was poor and, the nights we were there, the chef was sick so no dinner available either. For all that, the rooms are generously proportioned with a comfortable bed and air conditioning - which was welcome after a three day jungle trek. It was annoying that the WhatsApp number goes to someone in Thailand, although the guy manning the place is doing his best (helped by a selection of gormless boys). In short, it’s not great but it’s the best you’ll be able to do in the area and reasonable value for money at the end of a few nights in the jungle.

Exceptional friendly and helpful staff! Kept the restaurant open for us until we arrived later in time!

The staff was friendly. We got everyday some different vegetarian food in the restaurant, which is a difficulty in Luang Namtha. The hotel offers free bicycles. The view from the room to the mountains. The room is very big.

There was every possible insect in the room: ants, spiders, bugs, a carcroch. The location is very far out of town (no other restaurant or shop is reachable by foot). You have to pay extra for the hotel taxi to bring you in the center, which is a bit of a pain. The style of the room is really without taste. Also the tables in the restaurant were often dirty and the whole grounds seemed a bit neglected. I was disappointed of the condition of the hotel rooms and restaurant, but we looked at other places in Luang Namtha and they were not better. Just don't expect too much. But the prize should be less considering the location and the other things mentioned.
