This historic property is so rustic, quirky, and cute. Like going to stay in a friends cottage. Perfect hotel for the Manitou and Old Colorado City area. Easy to get in and out of. Would definitely stay again. It was Perfect for our trip. Small fridge and microwave. Could have used more pillows and towels. Staff was friendly and probably would have provided. If you are picky and want high end, this is not your place.

The office closes at 5PM, not convenient for travelers. First cabin was a bust. Reeked of cigarette smoke with burns in the carpet. Air conditioners did not work. Other than that it would have been a nice cabin. Next cabin did not reek, but did not include a full kitchen. Hot plate and microwave,. Drip Coffee coffee machine but no filters or coffee. Two nice bath towels, but nothing else. No kleenex or papertowels. No utensils or dishes or cups. Poorly maintained, peeling paint, terrible caulk, curtains3 either fell off or would not open. Mattresses and pillows were past there prime. A very uninviting environment. Not worth the money.

Spacious lodge units with parking near the lodge units. Convenient location for access to businesses and attractions. All conveninet appliances supplied in teh room, but tey ran out of coffee for the coffee maker!

The property is 98 years old and was probably "the" place back in the day. It shows it's age but there are new owners and they are trying make it nicer. Definitely a stop for people that plan to hike and camp. The cabins are roomy but not well furnished. Wi-Fi is spotty, I just used my 5g. They could add some shelving in the bathroom for toiletries. There is only a small sink, toilet and shower. Nowhere to put your stuff. We arrived a day early and the owner was nice enough to honor our rate for the extra day. A very nice surprise. They were all very helpful and nice. Will I return if I come back to the area? Maybe.

I so much wanted to like El Colorado but the air conditioner only blew air, not cold air. The windows were full of air conditioners so we couldn’t open them. My companion saw multiple small bugs on the bed. I didn’t scrutinize them to determine what type of bugs they were. There was a Keurig-type coffee pot but no coffee and there was no trash can at all. The staff at El Colorado were very nice when our key wouldn’t unlock the door. And they continued to be nice when after we left at 1:30 a.m. but declined to refund our money because they said we should have wakened them up to ask for another unit. Well, that’s not likely to happen. So, I’m sorry to say that I was disappointed and can’t recommend a visit to El Colorado Lodge.

We were happy to stay in this "rustic" Casita. Plenty of room. Esther, the manager, was a delight. Great location for the area. It has a historic designation. A couple of drawbacks they need to consider 1) room smelled of cigarette smoke. Hope they got the penalty fine. But need to then use it to remediate the smell. 2) If the budget is tight, they should go to Goodwill or St. Vincent de Paul to make sure there are adequate kitchen supplies. One set of flatware is not adequate for a self catering place.

Property was old and worn down. Needed major updates.

Nice small place with wonderful employees that were very helpful anytime we needed them. The cleaning crew was particularly helpful.
