Umutuzo Lodge Kivu Lake

Site exceptionnel, Philippe le propriétaire est aux petits soins, accueil chaleureux, les logements sont superbes et grands ,la vue imprenable , les produits dans la salle de bain sont de grande qualité, et la restauration de qualité. Le lait excellent vient des vaches élevées sur le site, il y a des caféiers et des ananas, des mangues. Philippe est soucieux de préserver l'environnement et ça se voit.Site hors du temps, c'est très reposant , et on a apprécié les excursions proposées et les activités (paddle, kayak). J'espère pouvoir revenir.

La route d'accès est en travaux sur les derniers kilomètres, mieux vaut arriver de jour sinon c'est faisable mais ça surprend un peu. .rien d'autre à signaler, a part peut être l'absence de machine expresso...mais le lodge se veut attentif à la gestion des déchets, autant éviter les capsules et le café est très bon par ailleurs. dommage que les produits de la salle de bain ne soient pas en vente. Ce serait un plus de pouvoir en acheter sur place.

I liked the site, the view and the intertainment

I like more privacy but not common dinning.

This is an absolutely beautiful, serene place to stay, you are fully immersed in nature. The lodges are so comfortable and stylish, we slept so well. The food was absolutely delicious. The customer service was excellent. The rooms were spotless, with fabulous lake views. The swimming pool was clean and welcoming in the heat. Lots of activities on offer, you are really cared for.

Simply can't praise Umutuzo Lodge highly enough. Sheer perfection. The lodges are spotlessly clean and stylishly decorated, and built to Western standards but with African charm. The setting in a little bay overlooking beautiful Lake Kivu is breathtaking. Food is delicious. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Phillipe the owner is the most charming host and Eric the manager attends to your every need and is also a great guide. You can go on a boat ride in the Lodge's own boat around the islands, or kayak on the lake. And the resident "security manager", Bogisi the dog, is adorable. We stayed for 2 nights but could have stayed for 2 months! We'll be back :-)

Absolutely nothing was even remotely bad here :-)

The lodge's location is brilliant; just on the lake and very peaceful. The rooms were comfortable and made for a wonderful spot to just relax and take in the vista and environment. Our host, Philippe and the rest of his staff were all wonderful, friendly, welcoming, and just great to converse with during meal times. And yes, the dinners were especially great, as it was shared with other guests and Phillipe. This was an extra special time to meet new friends! The chef, Vidaste, was also awesome and did everything and more, to see that we were happy with our meals. We loved going for a walk on the lake shore in the early morning, and being able to see the villagers on the morning fishing and other activities.

I didn't like that we couldn't stay longer to be able to participate in more activities and just take in the serenity :-).
