Umutuzo Lodge Kivu Lake

Umutuzo Lodge is a true oasis and both a wonderful relaxing stop when travelling through Rwanda and a wonderful get-away from bustling Kigali for locals. Philippe and his team are wonderful hosts and really makes on feel at home. The food is excellent and the communally eaten dinner offers the great opportunity to get to know different people from all different walks of life. The activities offered are a great opportunity to give a relaxing holiday an active touch in a very much eco-touristic way. Philippe has great plans for the place and we will certainly come back to see them come into fruition!

Beautiful views, very friendly staff and owner, nice communal mealtimes and a broad range of activities on offer (hiking, kayaking, boat trips etc.). We highly recommend Umutuzo Lodge as a base for exploring Lake Kivu.

It will be even better when the construction work of the new restaurant and pool is finished. Small improvements could be made in servicing the rooms (removing empty bottles and waste etc..). The meals were good but perhaps a bit samey. But these are minor things - we were very satisfied with the place.

Beautiful build lodges, very kind staff around Olivier, Erik, Isaac and all the others, nice activities around the area. Philippe the owner just always helps and is very friendly to organize trip around Ruanda

Beautiful lodge with a beautiful view - super new and comfortable - we had a very big lodge all for our selves with a beautiful view. The staff was super friendly and the food was great. We had a lovely time!

- the location is fantastic - the dinner and the breakfast is very very good - there is the possibility to do very interesting excursion and activity - our room was fantastic and very large, in a fantastic position

- the last 10km are very very difficult to do, expecially without a 4x4 car (we had only a Jeep and we have had a lot of problem) - the hotel are work in progress (for ex. They are building the swimming pool)
