"Really enjoyable and an honor to stay in such a historic sacred place"

9.0

The location was great, we didn't get a breakfast, I am not sure if one was provided or not. We booked both the Canton room and the Rajah room. They were beautifully decorated and it was centrally located (within walking distance to all the restaurants and tourist spots) but still far enough away for privacy. The shower was really nice (spacious). I really appreciated the designated parking spot. Parking is a premium in Salem.

There was a group staying below us in the Silbee's suite and we could hear every word of their converstaion crystal clear (they were speaking at normal volume) this made us realize that when we were speaking to each other, it needed to be at a whisper if we wanted to maintain privacy. I think it is simply the age of the building. I do not think they built it in the 1800's with sound attenuation in mind. They also have a kitchen so when they were cooking, the odor will be strong in the Rajah room (directly overhead). We weren't in the room long enough for it to be an issue, we were always out and about site seeing.

The Silsbee Suite was lovely! Its def just for 1 or 2 ppl even though the kitchen is huge there is only 1 queen bed and a couch. You also habe acess to your own private patio but we were out all day and didnt really utilize that. This property is in walkimg distance to everything you need to get to and see in Salem. It is an old house and you can hear EVERYTHING! Even the other guests if they sneeze or laugh so just be aware of that. I would def stay again

It's our second time at Silsbee! We were at the Rajah room the first time, and now at in the Canton room. We loved our stay. Quiet, not in the middle of everything BUT close enough to walk everywhere. The Mercy Tavern near by (3 min walk) is a MUST! Best burgers in town! We had an AC issue on a day of 105, and the owner was very quick and responsive and had good options, although we were able to quickly fix the issue! Breakfast is hold almost in a museum place! So pretty! We love Salem, and will probably be back at this inn!! I love the idea of encourage little businesses!

"Historic stay"

10.0

Loved Salem. So much history. Every house seemed to be historic and well maintained. Amazing to stay in one. They brought an extra chair when we wanted to eat in our room the first night. The breakfast was ample in a comfortable historic (again) room. Really enjoyable. Great food, candy shop and national park site a few blocks away.

"Historic, lovely, affordable!"

10.0

Came into town for a wedding and got to stay at this fabulous B&B for a very nice price. Walkable from everything touristy and beautiful in town including the waterfront about a block away. 2 restaurants and a coffee/bagel joint right around the corner. The main house was very cool and had a museum feel with some original carpentry and masonry. The Rajah room had a brand new bathroom with a huge comfy bed and a fancy clawfoot tub. There was air conditioning during the day, but we kept windows opened for a lovely sea breeze at night. They had a mini fridge and a microwave in the room as well. We can't wait to go back and stay there again honestly. The continental breakfast was yummy. They even had custom tea that was delicious.
