Yew Tree House

The location was great , the accommodation was fresh and clean and had everything you would need. The host was friendly and gave us lots of knowledge. We were provided with refreshments, which was lovely.

Pauline is very friendly and knowledgeable Brilliant location with free parking We stayed in Balcony Suite ,it was gorgeous had everything you could possibly want Lovely decor I'd definitely recommend and can't wait to come back

After our car broke down we arrived over 4 hours later than planned. Pauline met us with such a warm welcome it was greatly received.

Black out curtains or blinds please. 5am wake up on a sunny day

The town and palace are five minutes away by foot.

We found that the blinds in the bedroom did not blank out the light very well so we were wide awake at 4AM. NOT a major problem because we loved the place and will go back.

Location, comfort level and equipment

We were met at the property by the host who gave us all the information we needed and showed us around the property. Everything was spotless and the sofa was super comfy. The bed was also extremely comfy. The bathroom was spacious and we had lovely fluffy towels. A lot of love has gone in to the accommodation with lots of little touches to give it a homely feel. The position of the accommodation is superb with pubs and restaurants a 5 minute walk away and a pedestrian entrance to Blenheim Palace is also just 5 minutes walk. Woodstock is a pretty little town with buff coloured stone houses and lots of pubs and restaurants. We ate at the Back Lane Tavern where the food was superb. Sadly our stay wasn't long enough to try anywhere else.

The only thing that let the property down for us and stopped me being able to give a 10/10 review was the lack of blackout curtains or blinds. As we stayed in June it was daylight in the bedroom at 4.30am as the wooden venetian blinds didn't keep the light out. We are used to heavy blackout curtains at home so this did affect our sleep and we awoke very early. This problem was very personal to us and it may well not affect someone else at all.

We arrived a little early and greeted by Pauline who is extremely welcoming and friendly. Our suite (Tailors) was ready and we were able to check in. Everything was immaculate, including the lovely garden which has plenty of seating. Thoughtful provision of milk, orange juice, water, biscuits plus teas and coffee was very welcome after a long journey. Location to the characterful town of Woodstock is perfect, just a few minutes stroll and you are amongst the shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. You won't need to use the excellent kitchen in the suite as there are plenty of nice places to eat. If going into Oxford, use the Peartree park and ride, 5.00 for two people! We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay and recommend Yew Tree House wholeheartedly.
