Cap Karoso Sumba - a member of Design Hotels

One of the best hotels I have ever stayed. From arrival until departure, the service was faultless, the quickest room service I have ever experienced anywhere, every single time. The food was exceptional, every meal. The beach is beautiful and raw and I love that there were so many local people enjoying themselves going on with their every day, fishing and children playing in the rock pools. A must stay location. I will be back.

We came here for our honeymoon and were thoroughly impressed by the beauty of both the hotel and its setting by the beach. The service we received throughout was exceptional and personalised, everyone working there seemed to really care about the place and its guests. The food was also of high quality, rivalling restaurants we regularly frequent in London and the rest of Europe.

Staff were amazing. Beach and Pool areas are lovely, perfect for a relaxing stay. Lovely experience at the spa too.

We chose this hotel with the expectation that the food would be good but we were very disappointed. Wine was also very expensive with limited options.

Everything was wonderful! From the moment we arrived we were greeted with kindness and everyone was always happy and helpful!

A luxury, beautiful, architecturally designed resort, we booked a 2 bedroom villa with pool which was stunning with a gorgeous sea view. Huge rooms and bathrooms which were spotlessly clean. Staff were all lovely, friendly and helpful. Farm to table food (we did a cool farm visit) cooked by resident chefs. Food and drinks were incredible although hugely overpriced! The beach is just stunning with free (for 2 hours) surfboards, SUPs, kayaks and bikes. The cycle to Weekuri lake is a must but be prepared to pay to get in and pay the local kids some cash to take photos :) We also did a surf trip with Ari as our surf guide which was amazing!

As it's a new resort it feels like there are a few teething troubles, also be prepared for the remoteness of it. We were disappointed that after a bit of a trek to get there we had to wait for 3 hours for our room which mostly wasted our first afternoon! Although the food is incredible there is really only the beach club to eat at (you can have a 10 course degustation dinner at a large extra cost in another small restaurant). The menu and daily specials were enough variations for a 5 day stay but the prices are next level with a tax and service charge on top! With no options outside of the hotel due to the remoteness you really have to be prepared to pay hundreds $$ on top for food and drinks per day. Only other thing about the rooms is the hanging and shelves are in the bathroom which is not a/c resulting by day 5 our clothes were all damp from the humid conditions. Also can't believe you only get 2 hours free on beach 'toys' after which you are charged at $40 per hour! Really feel there should be more affordable airport transfers instead of the $300 return we paid for 45 mins each way, the flights to Sumba are also a real issue although we were very lucky and ours ran mostly on time and on the right day.

An INCREDIBLE place. We had the most amazing experience and wish we stayed longer!! The building, land, pool, architecture, facilities… just so beautiful!! The staff were unbelievable and it was great to meet the owners too. What an inspirational trip and stay!
