Historic Cow Palace Inn

The hotel was alright, but for the price that you pay, I would have expected things to have been a little nicer in the rooms. The location is very convenient, as the Tavern 1301 has some of the best food around. The rooms do have great space, and the beds are pretty comfortable, and the finishing touches around the rooms are nice. Lastly, despite breakfast not being advertised, they do provide a free breakfast that is pretty good and has some good options. I slept fine, so no red flag complaints that I would suggest staying elsewhere, I just thought the property would be a lot nicer given the cost.

The room was pretty dark and had a dungeon feel to it, albeit nobody goes on vacation to sit in a hotel, so that's not a huge problem. The room also had a terrible sewage smell, and the shower water did not get all that hot. Again, for the price charged, I would have expected things to be a little nicer.

There was a great restaurant on the property. No need to go hunting for a place to have dinner.

The hot tub wasn’t working.

Location was good. Bathroom near checkin could use an upgrade from painted plywood & 2x4s. Nice big showers. Bed comfortable. Breakfast was OK, would have liked access to some type of fruit. Restaurant, 1301 Tavern was fabulous. Had dinner twice there. Excellent meals, inventive & tasteful. Steak done to correct temp. I’d go back for the Brussels hash, loaded mashed potatoes and pave potatoes alone!

First room offered was about 50 degrees & couldn’t shut off air conditioner so moved to another. It was on corner nearest bar so was noisy from restaurant & bar until it closed. TV did not offer standard networks, ABC,NBC,CBS,FOX, stuck on CNN for news.

The breakfast was the best "free" meal I've eaten. The sausage links were huge and wonderfully spicy. Biscuits and gravy were good, especially the gravy. They had a home made apple-berry cobbler that was delicious as well. The scrambled eggs were the usual not-so-good kind. Had dinner at the restaurant that was good and a reasonably priced. The room was quite clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff was friendly, helpful, and polite.
