Sea-View Apartment, 2-4 Guests, 10 Mins to Beach and The Oval

On site parking, light airy flat, simply furnished but adequate for our 3 night stay, area very quiet as up away from town centre, good value.

Didn’t realise it was a top floor flat so difficult for our elderly dog to manage the 4 flights of stairs. Lots of rubbish around building and unkept which gave a bad first impression.

Pleasant flat and location, both quiet when we were there. Plenty of bedding, towels and cleaning materials provided, also tea and coffee. Parking was good. The flat is on the third floor of an Edwardian villa converted into 10 flats - you need to be aware that there are 41 stairs to get yourself and your luggage up. There is a good bus service from the top of the road that will take you to the sea front and the old town.

Lighting. There are no lamps and only low wattage bulbs in the single ceiling lights in each room. The dining area is particularly dark. Though the kitchen is mostly well equipped it would benefit from saucepans with lids, a vegetable peeler and a grater. Only two of the four gas rings work. Oven was fine.

Central location in St Leonards

The car park had piles of rubbish including mattresses and there was a for sale sign outside of the big house ( multiple occupancy). The entrance hall and the stairs leading to the flat were filthy. When we phoned, the owner/ manager said he didn’t know we were coming, ( we had sent an email to him the day before! ) so the flat was dirty and smelly with an unmade bed. The side panel on the bath had fallen down. The owner/ manager suggested we went for a walk and he would send a cleaner over. We were shocked and tired after our journey, and went for a walk to decide what to do.

It was very clean and well laid out - it had everything we needed. The host was very helpful and responsive.

The sofa bed was tricky to make and put away. The hallway and outside was quite dirty.
