7 Cromwell Gardens - 2 Bed House

Initially when booking the reviews and the property looked great, unfortunately this was not the case upon our arrival.

Upon arrival we discovered a parking permit which was for several streets away so we unpacked the car and then drove around for a good 20 minutes looking for the relevant zone, which we found approximately half a mile from the property and quite a walk. We arrived at dusk so didn’t really inspect the property only the bedding which was clean. Later in the evening we attempted to put the heating on only to discover it wasn’t working at all (my husband is an engineer we really tried!) we called the number listed and were told a new thermostat would be fitted the next day so meanwhile we used the log burner (there were no logs/kindling/lighter etc but some were brought round). That evening we went to use the oven to find it was very dirty along with the pans and cupboards which weren’t clean. The next morning (and in daylight) we were horrified to see just how dirty the property was, filthy dusty skirting boards in every room, splash marks of red wine in the bedroom on the wallpaper, in the hallway, on the curtains. The corners of every room in the property were thick with dust and cobwebs and more splash marks etc, every picture on the wall had dust on the top. The back garden had weeds coming from almost every paving stone, almost a foot high, broken and mouldy garden furniture, plant pots that contained overgrown weeds, a broken and rusty barbaque, a sock and an energy can just chucked there. It was awful. We immediately contacted the property with all of this to be told some things may have been “missed” and the garden was going to be sorted in the coming weeks?? We said how bad the dirt/stains/marked carpets/curtains/walls were and were offered a full refund if we left that day. We had booked for 3 nights and had our two dogs with us so really didn’t want to g home, we were eventually (later that day) offered another property miles out of Scarborough which we declined.

It was a lovely house to stay in i would highly recommend it

The house was comfortable and clean. It was nicely decorated and warm.

Parking permit was not for zone where the house was situated, so we had to park a few streets away. Would have liked another baking tray to use in the oven.

Brilliant location, lovely house, everything you could need and helpful and friendly hosts and also allowed a later check out which was really good as my 8 year old is a lazy bugger

sofa is broken thick dust above eye level and over bathroom door frame and marks on ceiling and walls around the house but still a good stay just need a touch up for perfect place

Snow whilst we were there! Had a great time. Lovely and spacious! Would definitely recommend

The house was really spacious, warm and comfortable. We loved the high ceilings, corner bath and lots of hot water and heating because it was super cold weather. We literally booked on the way over and everything was ready, we received texts with important booking information immediately.

The back steps were very steep, but there was signage to take care.

A lovely property, cosy and well situated for walking around the south cliff. The bed in the back bedroom was super comfortable. The house is tastefully decorated with interesting ephemera. The bath is just awesome and water was always hot. Kitchen is well equipped and is very classy.

The house wasn’t cleaned properly, our puppy unearthed dirty socks from under the sofa and a crisp packet from under the bed. Some of the walls especially upstairs have holes in them. The house’s beautiful ornaments were dusty. The steps down to the back yard space are exceedingly dangerous a hand rail is definitely needed, the yard is spacious but very untidy and we didn’t appreciate having to pick up dog dirt from someone else’s dog ( our Chihuahua puppy definitely doesn’t do ones that size) The front garden was nice but again was marred with other people’s dog waste. The kitchen cupboards could do with a clear out, not a single empty cupboard for food. Also 1 toilet roll for 2 adults is not enough!

Good location, easy to park. Good size property, warm and comfortable.

There was an odd, musty smell downstairs. I think the plug in air fresheners were empty. Could’ve been a bit cleaner. There were cobwebs and dust around the window in the rear bedroom and a rogue sock behind the large sofa in the front room. The tea towel was musty smelling too.
