Retro Inn 2 - Lake Tekapo

Loved the view, slept with the curtains open so that I could see the stars and the sunrise

I’m not a fan of over the bath showers, shower curtains are always cold. I did have a bath but it’s only a shallow short bath so not that grest

It was nice to have a fireplace and a table tennis table. The view was reasonable from the balcony too.

The creaking of the house. It was cracking and banging all night as the house cooled. The building of the house must not have used correct expansion joints etc. It cracked and banged when anyone walked around but it also cracked and banged very often when everyone was in bed. It was enough to keep me and my children awake.

It was quite close to the lake and a tiny village there (2-3 min by car if I remember well). Nice vibes at The Greedy Cow Cafe for breakfast/brunch :) Also good that electrically heated covers (if you want to turn them on) were provided in the house´s bedroom, since it may be quite cold at night. Otherwise I was quite disappointed, I am sorry :(

Quite an old house, it´s rather a cottage. We were not prepared for totally creaking stairs, so if somebody uses the third bedroom upstairs, any step creates big noise. And it is inevitable that people from upstairs bedroom go downstairs and back more times since there is only one toilet for all 3 bedrooms in the whole house on the ground floor, right between other two bedrooms. So I was repeatedly woken up also during the night, even if just 1 person from upstairs went down for toilet (and they tried to be as silent as possible). Also, that toilet is very tired, with very old, half-broken faucets on the sink. The third bedroom upstairs is not closed (no door) but an open space, so watch out for it, if you need more privacy.

Quite and cosy place. Clean and warm. Very nice to stay in this little place. Enough for 4 of us. View is OK to see from my deck a little of lake Tekapo . Neighborhood are quiet and safe. Very close by for us to walk to the village in 12min.

Only one toilets and share bathrooms . Have to take turns. Have a staircase which is not suitable for senior citizens who has problems with knees finding it hard to go up and down. More suitable for young peoples. Hot water is very limited and slow.

A really interesting property. Imagine a wooden Swiss chalet. Lots of space, very good facilities. Located just a 10 minute walk from town centre. Table tennis available in the garage

TV/video was very difficult to operate.

Large house with all the equipments needed, even cooking oil, salts and laundry powder! A bit old one but quite tidy. I love the beds. Own parking space. 3 mins drive to the rental office, 5 mins drive to the 4 square super market.

The water pressure is not too strong (though still ok).

Location was awesome, so near to all attractions and cafes. The ladies in the Discovery office was friendly and all smiles.

The loud squeaking of the house, there are several times we wake up late in the night or early morning. And also, we weren't given enough towels.
