Host & Stay - Hope Cottage

The cottage was lovely and in a great location, a short walk from the harbour area. Well maintained bright cottage with nice decor, also with a small enclosed front garden which was very handy for our dog. We managed to park on the street outside for the duration of our stay. All very comfortable. Very accessible to Whitby beach and attractions. Also a short drive along the coast is Robinhood Bay which was a pretty village (steep walk down to the beach) - we really enjoyed a 10 mile circular walk along the cliff tops to Ravenscar and back along the Cinder Trail - fab walk, the first half is fairly strenuous with a lot of up and down steps, but worth it for the amazing views.

The single room bed was comfortable but noisy!-could do with being upgraded. Front garden could do with a little more TLC.

Parking - but wasn't a problem as found parking on another street and it was free which was a bonus.

Loved our stay very clean and cosy ! Best bed ever and beautiful inside from top to bottom. Close to centre 10 min walk perfect Maybe leave a small Complementary gift relevant to the area biscuits maybe As most hotels do this, also needs a full length mirror upstairs rather than in the bottom of the stairs only one very small mirror in second bedroom But other than that we had a fantastic stay

The property was lovely and clean. It was well equipped and had a really good shower. The double bedroom was very comfortable.

The front lawn was messy and there were cigarette butts on the concrete by the window. The bed in the single room was incredibly squeaky, my daughter had to sleep on the pull out bed which meant she had no floor space. Also there was no facility for recycling.

Location and free parking. Nice bathroom.

Overall cleanliness. General maintenance and upkeep of the house was lacking. Grass needed cutting and path wants weeding, cigarettes from previous tenants were all over the floor outside. Lots of dead flies on the floor, furniture hadn’t been cleaned behind in a long time, strong smell of damp in the kitchen and the upstairs had not been hoovered, I actually had to do it myself. Needs blackout blinds in bedroom.
