Close to all! 2-room suite in a 1-family townhouse

Location was ideal— lively, safe neighborhood, near great restaurants, easy subway to Manhattan subway, just steps from the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, Prospect Park and the Brooklyn Museum. The apartment was spacious, quiet, clean with all amenities. Richard was friendly and responsive.

I have kind of mixed feelings about this place. First the pros: 1. It was my first trip ever to USA, I stayed in 3 places altogether and by far this one had the best bathroom. It was the most "European" bathroom I've seen in US that means that all the plumbing worked, everything was clean and it was almost kind of luxurious. Only the "shower curtain" was very US. In Europe you would have glass or plastic. Overall it was really pleasant to use and increased my overall rating 2. The place was quite spacious. Lot's of space to live and to store clothes for 2 people. 3. The kitchenette was very well equipped (and I don't understand people complaining about it... it had everything except the stove... and who comes to NYC to cook? Come on. It's perfect to do breakfast or snacks or warm something for your child in the microwave, there was a wine opener and paper towels and everything). 4. I think I've even seen a US power adapter in the wardrobe, which supposedly is super rare in US. Very thoughtful. Kudos. 5. The localisation. It's 5 minute slow walk to the Subway and about 30 minutes by Subway to any place in Manhattan, faster if you take the express lines... which I still can't understand. Additionally you have several craft beer/multitap pubs nearby. One is about a 5 minute walk. They even had "Polskie Grodziskie" made in US in a can. 6. Looked just the same inside as in the pictures. And you could also check the outside on google maps.

1. Security. This might be an issue only for people from Europe but we are taught all our lives that US is very unsafe and it's the richest/biggest 3rd word country (mind you, we did not have any dangerous situations for 16 days). However in this apartment we are protected from the hostile environment outside by just a flimsy lock and a flimsy door (with a glass window) to the entire building. There is no additional lock to the individual apartment (there are two doors, one has as a flimsy lock which can only be closed from the inside only and the other has no locks). And to add insult to injury the hosts themselves in the house rules leaflet say... that it's dangerous to open the door for everyone, even the police (because they might be people pretending to be police). There were some neighbors from the 'hood constantly playing dominoes outside of the building... I am sure they were sweet people, but... About a week after our visit there was a shooting with 3 dead in a club half a mile away from the apartment. By adding any type of lock the hosts would be able to provide me with that security feeling. Didn't feel safe leaving my laptop in either. 2. Terrible communication with the host. A day before checking in I asked if I can leave my luggage before checking in (shouldn't be a problem since hosts live there). I got no answer. I booked storage on Bounce and spent $17. Just before checking the luggage in a store I got a message with the key combination. I asked if I can leave the suitcases but got no answer again. $17 thrown out. I tried to start other conversations (e.g. about dogs) but to no avail.... 3. Use AC instead of opening the window. US standard. But for Europeans - bonkers. 4. Th neighborhood might be loudish, not an issue on the bedroom side, but the building feels like made of paper. You can feel every step of other inhabitants, but no voices. 5.

We found a super friendly café a few blocks away where we had breakfast each morning.

The kitchen doesn't amount to much--you really can't cook in it, and there's no ice.

Great location. Good neighborhood with several eating options nearby. Lots of space in the unit.

The place could use a fresh coat of paint, particularly on the ceiling where there are water stains.

Location was excellent. Really close to subway, lots of good places to eat/drink nearby. Nice neighbourhood.

Both the communal space and the bedroom were large. The amenities were very thoughtful, complete with a towel for makeup removal. The bathroom was fantastic! Shower had nice water pressure and a jetted tub that even a tall person could soak in. The host was very friendly and knowledgeable, with a very friendly dog. We've already recommended it to friends

If anything, the backdoor could use a shade of some sort for more privacy.
