La Poza Boutique Hotel and Spa - Adults 15 plus

The grounds, the pool, the restaurant, the location next to the lagoon, and especially the staff were fantastic. We ate one dinner and several breakfasts at the restaurant and enjoyed everything; the chef is very talented and the service attentive. We used the kayaks to get the beach but didn't use the spa. The private lanai attached to the room was very nice.

The room was large but very basic. The bed was extremely hard and pillows and linens were pretty rough; we did not sleep well. The bathroom was functional but could use some updates to reach my expectations for a boutique hotel. We selected the room based on the fact it had a hot tub, but the temperature was rarely hot enough to be comfortable. Two nights out of five the temperature got up to 96F or so (using the thermometer in the filter system) which is ok for a little while but the rest of the time we couldn't get the temperature that high. We raised the issue with the staff a couple of times and they tried to resolve it but didn't really succeed. Finally, there is not enough parking and the pool bar was rarely staffed when promised.

The staff could not have been nicer and more attentive. They made us feel so comfortable and took care of all of our special requests, even finding a stair-free route for my parents to take to their room. The setting is as good as it gets... we did yoga every morning in front of their picturesque lagoon, surrounded by the sounds of shore birds and the crashing waves on the beach beyond. And while on their beach, we saw grey whales right off the shore. It is the most quiet, picturesque beach I've ever seen. By the pool, the swinging beds made the perfect spot to pretend to read your book, while actually taking a nap. There are so many excellent restaurants within a 15 minute drive... I reserved ahead of time because we are a large group and every night was a 10/10. Finally we had incredible deep-tissue massages at their spa... you need to reserve ahead of time to get the best therapists.

The only negative is the rough dirt road you need to traverse between the hotel and town. It's less than 10 minutes and not terrible, but good to rent a sturdy car. If you have trouble with stairs, it can be tricky because the main stair does not have a handrail, but there is a back way to get around it if necessary.

Everything is great, lots of details well taken care off, like the fireplace in each room,repellent, kayaks to cross to the ocean. Rooms were big, nice, comfortable and modern

The service at the restaurant was not on point, good enough but with areas of opportunity. There is a price for nationals which we were not aware of, to apply you need to book it directly. The hotel doesn’t take Amex

We were very excited to stay here. Unfortunately, we had a medical emergency and only got to stay 1 night. However, the staff could not have been kinder or more helpful to us during an incredibly stressful time. We look very forward to returning and being able to fully enjoy a vacation at this beautiful property.

The property is beautiful landscaped and maintained. It is situated on an estuary with views of the beach and the pacific beyond. The sunsets are stunning. The rooms all feel private and tranquil. The staff will know you by name and are very kind and helpful. The first time you arrive the road was a bit tricky but it’s all part of the adventure.

The staff is excellent, so friendly and helpful. The resort itself is stunning. There is a beautiful pool, free kayaks and even yoga classes. It was a lovely place to stay.

Property was stunning and staying by the lagoon felt like waking up in a nature documentary each day. It was hard to motivate to leave and do other things because the property is just so lovely.

A bit far to walk into town but that means a lot of peace and quiet.

Beautiful facilities. There are lots of places on the grounds to relax. Nice pool and hottub. Lovely view of whales spouting off our balcony. The staff are exceptional
