Asaya Hotel Kota Kinabalu - Refurbished 2024

We chose this hotel as it was supposed to offer free parking and free Wi-Fi. However, we were informed that the hotel had just implemented parking charges when we checked-in and there was nothing they could do about it as the car park was not managed by them. The reception staff only relented and offered us the reserved car park slots in front of the hotel when we threatened to cancel future bookings. We felt that the hotel should honour the terms of booking, just like the retail shops would honour the displayed price of their products even if it meant that they would suffer a loss. The Wi-Fi was slow, possibly due to too many devices...but was it uncommon for a couple to own a mobile phone and a tablet/laptop each? There was also no Wi-Fi connection in the bathroom... As for the room condition, we found that the table lamp had no bulb and the downlight above the table was not working. There was selective replacement of face towels and toiletries each day and some canned drinks were wrongly placed in our fridge on one of the days.

Everything was new as the hotel was less than a year old. It was convenient to get around if you have a rental car and taxis can be arranged by the hotel staff. You get meals from the surrounding area easily and there is bar that opens till 1 am. Getting to airport was about 20 mins.

Pleasant Stay

Good stay, room a/c was not working and got replaced immediately. Would've preferred not to move at 11pm at night, but having no a/c is terrible. Will always stay here if price remains the same (about S$70) when I stayed.

Very pleasant stay with decent breakfast, clean swimming pool. Few restaurants near by. Good stay.
