GBWe didnโt get breakfast they didnโt cook one .there excuse was there children wasnโt well
The whole experience wasnโt good we booked for 4 nights only stayed 1 night .the room was freezing and took hours to warm up the toilet when flushed wouldnโt stop running .drab room very badly maintained .the pub wasnโt much better it was freezing .even though they said they did food waited hours for a very limited menu. The only good thing was the bar staff was very pleasant .we couldnโt wait to get away from the place .it ruined our new year break
GBIt was close to the park and ride for York
We weren't told that the restaurant didn't serve food on a Sunday evening. On the Monday morning of departure there were no staff. The reception and bar were closed. No breakfast. A cleaner arrived an hour later and phoned someone from her mobile. She told us the staff were off due to family illness. We left and have had no replies to emails sent to the Red lion concerning an incorrect bill. We won't pay for breakfast we didn't receive.
GBStaff were lovely and the food was very nice. Rooms were spotless we had a king size deluxe the bed was massive, but a couple of things let it down the cups didn't match, there was only enough tea and coffee and milk for two drinks, net or blinds are needed for room window, pricey for what it was. These are just observations but all in all we had an enjoyable stay.
GBThe staff were lovely and very friendly and gave us our money back for a breakfast we missed. They were also very helpful and told us what the best way to get to York was. The breakfast was also very good (we stayed 2 nights). The beds were comfy and the room was clean and the location to the park and ride (the cheapest way to travel into york) was second to none. I would stay again but I'd bring some ear plugs for the road noise.
So the room was very warm as we couldn't turn the radiator down or off which luckily for us didn't matter as much because me and my friend are both naturally cold people, but anyone who is a naturally warm person would not have been able to sleep in there (I have a few friends who couldn't have hacked it!) On the contrast the bathroom was freezing as we couldn't turn the radiator on! The TV was tiny which was disappointing as me and friend do like to watch a bit of tv before bed but at least it had a TV. The road noise was an issue too sadly as it was pretty loud so wish we'd had ear plugs and the bathroom was a bit shabby but I'd say it was a standard 3 star hotel and the location is fantastic if you're just thinking of using it as a base to visit York.

GBLocation was good easy to catch uber to York city centre. Room nice and clean and beds were comfortable. Unfortunately our TV in the room didn't work but that wasn't a major problem. Lovely cosy pub with pool table and darts board, and singer on in the evening. Breakfast was good.
TV to work in room.
