1950 Luangprabang Hostel

The capsules were a good design, they kept all your stuff locked away without having to think about it. Everything seemed clean, there was a nice balcony to sit on

The toilets didn’t work. 3 out of 4 were marked with ‘do not use’ signs but I suspect they worked anyway and that those signs were constantly on and off so they just left them on. The toilets couldn’t handle toilet paper being thrown in them, so the remaining toilet was constantly blocked and I had to use the men’s on more than one occasion. I acknowledge that this is also a guest-caused problem, but it is a big problem when all the toilets are blocked so something needs to be done.

The 1950 Luang Prabang hostel has good capsule-type private units. The problem is the women toilet area. There are 4 toilets in the women's area (that even men use sometimes) but if you are lucky one of them works. They don't seem to maintain them clean and working as the flushing is a problem. Booking says this hostel has a kitchen but not even a pot for hot water. There is a fridge but it doesn't work and there is no plug for it. Also, the stairs leading to the toilets are narrow metal and steep so they are uncomfortable and unsafe.
