Apartment T1 - Porto

Lots of natural light and the apartment is genuinely beautiful with a great view and so much sunlight during the day. We enjoyed the location, but keep in mind that we rented a car. It's quiet, there's a nice coffee shop just across the street, and most days we could find a parking spot around the block. Big and spacious living room, comfortable couch. Bed was pretty comfortable as well although not that big.

Started off with a terrible experience. We could not access the apartment keys, after following the instructions we were given. The lock wouldn't open. It took over 15 calls for the owner to pick up. We were even starting to think we had fallen to a scam. But everything turned out okay in the end... after over an hour of sitting at the apartment door looking like we were trying to break into someone's house. It's a little far away from the city center and public transportation access isn't all that close, still a bit of a walk. It's a good location if you are planning on renting a car, though. It lacks some useful appliances. We ended up having to buy a cooking pot because they only had a tiny one. No frying pan either. Shower was pretty small. We are both average sized people, and we felt like we had no room to shower. You struggle to even bend over to wash your legs and feet lol. Also no dish soap, shower gel, shampoo, soap or anything of the sorts, you have to buy it yourself. They had a sponge but it was nasty, we also had to buy one. You only get one fresh set of towels and bed sheets, so also something to keep in mind if you are staying for a longer period of time. No washing machine or place to hang your clothes, but there are some laundromats nearby. Something we made sure to look into was if the apartment had heating, since Porto is really cold during the winter. It says it does... but don't be fooled, it doesn't work. We were freezing at night, the apartment gets so cold, it was terrible. No one could shower at night either because it was so cold and they have a gas cylinder to heat the water that never really gets warm enough and runs out pretty quick. This was truly the biggest downside for us. They also didn't even have blankets or anything to keep you warm. Just the bed duvet - not even bed sheets.
