USProperty was very clean, close to River, great staff - meals, wine, etc. Staff was very accommodating with meal times, variety. House worked well for two couples.
The road is a bit difficult. Would recommend using water taxi vs car to get to property.
GBThe Quinta is set in a beautiful location, it’s easier to arrive by boat as the roads are very narrow, uneven and with a lot of pot holes. The food is home cooked and excellent, very friendly and efficient staff too. We loved our few days here, Joana and her team made us very welcome and we were able to see their winemaking in progress.
ITBeautiful location, Douro view, La Quinta looks like a small stone village right on the banks of the Douro. The rooms/apartments are few and beautiful, guaranteeing comfort and privacy, without crowding. Superb swimming pool, surrounded by greenery, fig trees, vineyards, and orange trees. Delicious breakfast, lots of care, main building a jewel. all perfect. We also tried the wines produced by the fifth, good, they accompanied our evening in the silence and peace of a beautiful setting, the douro valley. Suggested
USWe had an amazing experience at Quinta De S. Jose and hope to return again. Joana, Fernanda and Agatha were incredible hosts; attentive and incredibly accommodating. The meals were delicious and the wine magnificent especially the Sausao and the Grand Reserve. Thank for a special experience.

The challenging drive to get in and out (take the boat if you have fear of heights); room has native stone wall and built into the hillside so was dark and damp but there is plenty of outdoor space to use
USThe location is simply amazing. To be on the river bank itself and to be surrounded by the vineyards, olive trees and nature really exceeded our expectations. The chef was also wonderful. Not to many choices but each prepared very well. Our housekeeper, Linda, was extremely attentive and friendly. We personally loved the drive in. The views were to die for. We live in Colorado and are maybe a bit heartier than other drivers who noted the difficulty. We liked it and had a small rental car. Don't do it an night or be in a hurry. I love getting my daily exercise and the hiking around the place was awesome too.
The breakfast was ok if you like ham and cheese and breads. No eggs or cooked to order.It would be a bit arduous to drive out every day if you want to travel around the valley but we were so enthralled by the location and service, who would want to leave.

Lack of English ( which isn't really a negative as it added a real authenticity) made it a bit difficult to communicate times, costs etc. Staff were super lovely though and with the help of Google translate we got by. Roads in and out not the greatest but again, made it authentic
