Room at the Back, 2 George Street

It was clean, organised and the decor was very much up to date.

I'm afraid my experience was somewhat clouded by the owner's reaction to what I would categorise as a small, unfortunate, but ultimately honest misunderstanding and the simple crossing of wires. I admit I played a small part in this situation, but did so quite innocently. Whatever the chain of events however I feel they certainly did not warrant the owners sustained reaction. I was sent a message about going to the front door to meet the owner, but got this on the morning of my stay. Unfortunately I was already out and about and so didn't pick this up, (I like to leave the phone off when out walking). Initially I did go to the front of the property, but saw no sign for the room at the back, so went to the rear. I asked a neighbour if I was at the right place and she told me it was a portion of the property at the back and that it had it's own entrance. I knocked on the door to this part of the property. No answer. I tried the door. It was open. I went in and called out. Almost immediately the owner appeared, very flustered and immediately had a go at me for not going to the front of the property. I have to make plain that I had booked this stay about a week or so in advance and so think it reasonable that I was to be expected. I can only assume from her reaction that the owner must have thought that I was some kind of monstrous marauder. A marauder who happened to be wearing walking boots and shorts. Once my identity had been established however I thought her fears would have been allayed, and this event seen as the misunderstanding it clearly was. This was not the case. several more times I was given a bit of a verbal dressing down. The upshot is I was made to feel as if I'd done something bordering on the criminal and ultimately made to feel very unwelcome, which was a great shame as I was rather looking forward to my stay.

We very warmly welcomed and the room was very comfy with added thoughtful touches. Beautiful and quiet village . 🌸

When I stayed before there were a few more things for breakfast while this time there was only a packet of crisps, a marshmallow and two biscuits. A little more would be welcome.

Very cosy and comfortable, spotless, TV, and microwave with bar stools and space to eat. Takeaways, shop and cafe round the corner, nice walk along the sea front and pebble beach. Good location for travel or local sightseeing. Lovely host, very helpful. Would definitely go again.
