Cheeful, 2bed x 1bath Brick House

Nothing. My friend and I did not stay at the property for the one night I had booked the property because I had canceled the reservation in late September/early October after the following occurred: [1] booking.com advised me electronically that it could not confirm the reservation or respond to questions I had about the property and that I should contact the property directly. [2] I called the property directly many, many times (I'm guessing more than 6) and left messages, but never received a return phone call. The last message I left was that I was canceling the reservation because no one ever responded and because we were flying in, we needed confirmation and information. [3} My friend thus made alternative arrangements at a hotel in New Orleans for the night we were to be there before getting on a cruise ship. The next thing I heard was a text from the owner of the property (at 8pm CT on the night we were to stay in New Orleans before the early morning rise to get on a cruise ship) with the key code and a number to call if I needed anything. I called that owner who said that he "just got" my various messages and that's why he had not called back, and that I needed to contact booking.com for a credit on the room. I contacted booking.com who advised they would send a message to the owner and credit the $200+ charge on my account (for a property that was supposed to be around $150, tax/fees included) if the owner agreed. I then received a message that the owner did not agree.

Everything. This appears to be either a scam, or some really inexperienced and immature property owners or personnel at booking.com. Or both.

Home cozy and clean for the most part.

The bed that me and my wife slept in was absolutely horrible. The first thing my wife did was complain about the mattress and the pillows had bad smell and we’re not comfortable at all. My wife often travels with extra bedding so she used her own bedding and covered the mattress because she didn’t like it and said it wasn’t clean and it was definitely uncomfortable. The bed seemed very old and dingy and felt like it was gonna fall to the floor. When we entered the room, we wanted to of course, put clothes in the closet and we noticed right away that the closet was off the track and then there was stuff in the closet that looked like clothing stuff in large trash bags left there. In the kitchen, the stove, then work properly. We contemplated leaving the house right away, but it would’ve been a major major major inconvenience for us to leave and find a new spot plus it would’ve cost even more money. Honestly, I don’t think that anyone should be able to collect someone else’s money to rent a home that is not up to standard. I’ve never slept in a homeless shelter bed, but I can imagine it would probably be like that one. We were afraid that bugs will come out of that mattress. I’m 45 years old and it’s the worst bed that I’ve ever slept in, in my life. A brief minute I even consider sleeping on the floor, but I have two torn shoulders and a broken elbow that wouldn’t allow me to do that.

The AC units work and the heat worked Location was pretty close to everything and the neighborhood was actually quiet

First and foremost when I pulled up to the property there was a broken down car in the driveway. How is it supposed to be two parking spots provided and there is a BROKEN down car blocking one of the spaces. And why would a property be having a BROKEN down car parked in the driveway that they have people paying for. Second, the trash in the yard was very disgusting and should’ve been cleaned prior to me coming. You don’t present a house in a trashy manner to people that are paying for it. Third, the beds were not even built properly. You shouldn’t even be allowed to list a house on any site and you can’t even build neither of the beds properly. Fourth, the railing to get to the backyard was about to come out the screws. Not only is that a safety hazard but it’s very inconsiderate since people are paying out their own money to stay here. Fifth, the bag of clothes and mattress in the closets was a sad site to see. Why on earth would you have belongings in the house you are using as a vacation rental to begin with? Again, not presentable at all and booking.com needs to investigate this house. For the comment that mentioned about the clothes and mattress in the closet they were not lying and booking.com needs to do something about that. Lastly, on my second day of staying at this nightmare home. The toilet ended up being stopped up. I don’t understand how urine and some toilet paper managed to do that but I contacted the property as soon as possible. Considering the fact, they’re supposed to fix issues like this. The host proceeded to tell me there was a store around the corner . And asked me to get some liquid plumber out my own money. Thank god, I had some drano in my car and it went down. Since the host was no help (expected) . If that all doesn’t seem bad. The host proceeded to request $200 for a damage fee for the toilet and I gladly declined. The toilet was absolutely fine AFTER I had to fix it my own self and received no apologizes or reimbursement.

I loved everything about this house was so comfortable Felt like we was at home the owner was very nice and helpful and helped
