Sol Y Mar - Unawatuna

Das Hotel liegt in einer Seitenstraße der Hauptmeile entlang des Unawatuna Beach und ist damit sehr ruhig, aber auch super nah am Strand, Restaurants und Läden. Wir hatten ein sehr großes, geräumiges Zimmer mit voll ausgestatteter Küche und Sitz-/Essbereich. Netter und hilfsbereiter Gastgeber, der uns mit einem Begrüßungsgetränk empfing und mit einem Teegeschenk verabschiedete.

Da wir außerhalb der Saison da waren, war keinerlei weiteres Personal da und es sah alles ziemlich vernachlässigt aus und auch unser Zimmer (v.a. Bad und Küche) war ziemlich dreckig (noch lauter Spritzer auf Unterseite der Klobrille :( ). Ich kann daher die vorangegangenen super Bewertungen zur Sauberkeit absolut nicht nachvollziehen :(

One of the more affordable places to stay in the area, just a few minutes' walk to the beach. The place looks old but is generally clean and quiet. It's very basic; I didn't expect too much for what I'd paid. The owner allowed us extra hours for check-out. Recommended if you are traveling on a budget.

The manager / staff are so helpful and kind! We ended up extending our stay multiple times. They even let us come back an extra night after we checked out, we went to another town and didn’t like it so we came back to sol y mar! They provide water / tea / coffee. If you keep the doors closed the mosquitoes will not come in. The hotel is pretty small but the rooms are very big, comfortable, and clean. There is always hot water in the shower and the rooms get very very cold if you want, very nice after a hot beach day. WiFi is good if you need to work in the rooms. Perfect location, you walk down one little ally near pink elephant restaurant and you reach the hotel. There are many restaurants nearby to choose from and the beach it’s just straight across the small road, you can get to it through any of the restaurants

Anura and his team are wonderful, the hotel and garden is beautiful, the room was spotlessly clean and comfortable, with all the little touches that make you feel immediately happy; tea, coffee, filtered water, toiletries and the warmest hospitality from everyone. After I was let into my room, I got a detailed text from Anura offering breakfast, spa facilities and just lots of useful information that many hotels fail to provide, and it makes such a big difference to the experience. I was surprised to be allowed to check in so early, and even more surprised that the deluxe single room had been upgraded to a huge bed! The location is also perfect, 2 minutes off the main road in blissful peace and quiet. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Everything was great!

We have got better room than we actually booked. The hotel is very good located, a few minutes to the beach, but not on the main very loud street. We also ordered the breakfast and it was tasty and fresh. Wifi was working good as well. Parking if needed is also available.

They do not accept credit cards as payment, only cash.

Big room, clean, close to the beach but not on the busy strip so no to little noise from beach parties or clubs that play quite loud music at times. Personel always available and good communication.
