Heater in the bedroom didn’t work so it was a bit chilly when we closed the door.
CAThe location, so close to Grassmarket square, was fantastic and so was and view of the castle! The apt was clean and well laid out. I liked the fact the living room/kitchen area had a door so if you were up early you could make a coffee without disturbing other people sleeping in.
I didn’t like the fact the appliances were almost impossible to figure out. I couldn’t even boil an egg, or heat up a croissant. We were only there for a couple of nights and I didn’t want to take hrs reading manuals to work the microwave, stove, never mind the dishwasher or washer. So appliances were basically useless. On the positive side, the kettle and coffee machine were actually easy to use. Also, other than coffee and tea, there was nothing else, no salt, pepper, spices, nothing. The next place we stayed, one night later, had a fully stocked kitchen cabinet with spices, etc. Even had croissants on the table. Also, it was a little different to find. The taxi driver told us to go up the back lane but the apt was actually on the main street.
GBLOCATION EXCELLENT, 2 MINS WALK TO THE CASTLE AND ROYAL MILE. KITCHEN ALL FACILITIES WERE SPARKLY NEW AND VERY WELL MAINTAINED. BATHROOM WAS SPOTLESS, TOWELS WERE WHITE AND BEAUTIFUL. BEDROOMS WERE ROOMY WITH LOTS OF STORAGE AND HANGING SPACE. 3 TVs WAS A GENEROUS LUXURY.
THE HALL WAY WAS VERY DISAPPOINTING, IT WAS LITTERED WITH RUBBISH, OLD MAIL AND VERY DIRTY DUSTY. THIS WAS NOT INVITING, GAVE A FALSE IMPRESSION AS TO WHAT TO EXPECCT INSIDE THE APARTMENT. THE STAIRCASE WAS ALSO VERY DIRTY, DUSTY AND JUST NOT ACCEPTABLE THAT NO ONE IS TAKING PRIDE IN THE SHARED COMMUNAL SPACE. THE APARTMENT WAS LOVELY, IT HAD EVERYTHING YOU WILL NEED.
GBIEVery centrally located in old town Edinburgh. The apartment itself is spotless and well furnished. Comfortable beds and living area. It's on the edge of Grassmarket Sq so plenty of options for food and beers on your doorstep. A few flights of stairs up the hill and you are at the Castle Gate and Royal Mile. All in all an ideal location.
