"This really must be the place!"

10.0

"Incredibly disappointing"

1.0

Leaving. Not pleasant to be in at all.

The pictures are very deceptive. The reality is the property is very tired and shabby. In desperate need of some work. The mold, dirty walls and patch painting are evident alongside the carpet on the stairs exposing the grippers with nails exposed. The property sits in the middle of 2 very run down properties that the gardens are full of trash, mattresses, broken white goods, dilapidated sheds and completely spoils the idea of sitting in the garden. The garden wasn’t safe either, not for people or pets. Half a dozen fish hooks on the ground and a rotten picnic bench. Absolutely not worth the nightly rate they charge. Currently fighting for a refund from booking.com as it was so awful we sought accommodation elsewhere as we were not prepared to compromise our holiday.

"Peaceful cottage to return to after a day of exploring the Isle of Skye"

10.0

A roomy cottage with comfortable beds, amazing view of the loch and lots of cozy blankets.

Everything was great, but we should have brought slippers to keep our feet warm.

Location is perfect, easy enough to access and parking is available on the main road outside the property. Back garden is lovely to sit in for breakfast and in the evening too.

"Waking to the views of the Loch is magical. Thank you!"

10.0

It’s in an amazing location! The village has a coffee shop, pub, and small grocery store. The scenery is unmatched and there’s everything you need to cook at the cottage.

"A cosy cottage in a stunning location - would definitely recommend!"

9.0

Stunning location, and so cosy - beautifully decorated and immediately felt like home. Lots of lovely thoughtful touches too including the open fire (ready stocked with wood and firefighters!), music speaker and coffee machine with coffee pods. Really handy location as well if you wanted to visit the Talisker distillery (less than a minute walk) and lots of lovely amenities in the village including a community shop, great independent cafe and pub (although this final one was shut when were there due to it being closed/quiet season).

The cottage was overall very clean but if being exacting not quite spotless; the check-in was also quite late and check-out quite early, but also understand that in high season the owners need time to turn it around for the next guests. This in no way impacted our overall experience and would very happily come again.

"Beautiful holiday cottage on the stunning Isle of Skye"

9.0

We absolutely loved our stay at Carbost. The house is so beautifully decorated, was lovely and clean and we immediately felt at home. We really appreciated it when the hosts helped us out with some missing firewood. The fire certainly helped with the cold nights! The location was also ideal, and not far from the Fairy Pools and Talisker Bay Beach. It didn't feel too far to drive to other spots like Portree or Waternish either. The hosts were also extremely informative and sent us great instructions and recommendations for the local area. Would very much recommend!

The only things to mention would be a couple of missing items in the kitchen, that would have made cooking a little easier. These include scissors, measuring jug, scales and a tea towel.
