Host & Stay - The Cottage in Corbridge

TV IN LOUNGE VERY DIFFICULT TO NAVIGATE

The property was ideally located for local attractions. The property was in a quiet location with easy access to local shops and transport links. It was spacious and clean and we really enjoyed our stay.

The location in the pretty town of Corbridge is ideal for lovely walks and a great base for sightseeing in the area. We did the riverside walk which our dog loved and took the train to Hexham. Pubs, restaurants and coffee shops are aplenty and the town centre has beautiful boutique shops. Ideal for a lovely few days away with our friends.

Unfortunately when we arrived on Sunday 17th March, he accommodation had not been serviced after the previous occupants. Prior to arrival we had to pay £25 in order to receive the key code. We found this completely unacceptable given we had paid in full before arrival. We let ourselves in to find dirty bathrooms and unmade beds. We were booked into a local pub for dinner so we went there and kept calling host and stay. We made numerous calls to host and stay from 4pm until 9pm. The operator kept telling us she would call us back with an update. Not once did she return our call. By 9.30 we decided to try to book into a local hotel. We walked back to the cottage and received a call from the owner Emily, who kindly came and changed beds/ cleaned bathrooms, vacuumed and made the place comfortable. Emily had only Ben advised if the issue half an hour prior so this was not in any way her fault. The problem lay with Host and stay who ‘thought’ we were not due that day (despite charging us £25 for the key code that day. Emily said she would organise a full refund for us. As yet, despite emails to find out what’s happening, nothing received and today is 13th May. This review is absolutely not directed at the property or to the owner. We will never stay at a host and stay property again .
