San Clu Hotel, Bar & Brasserie

Shower pressure was really poor. Room was very hot, no air conditioning and curtains weren’t blackout so woke up very early and not good nights sleep. The hotel literally locks its door at night, which is good for safety, but not very inviting for guests when you have to ring a doorbell and be quizzed by the staff on your name and room number in order to get access to the hotel you paid for. Very expensive price for one night during a bank holiday weekend.

Location is good, easy walk to everything. Convenient to have the restaurant on site, which had good food and live music on weekend. The hotel is quite busy as a local small convention center for the community and has its charm. It was I think previously taken over as a Comfort Inn property, which is a budget, limited frills hotel chain -appropriate. Gym with dated but reliable equipment better than expected. Sauna nice. Room was tidy and well appointed modernized bathroom. Never seen a Bluetooth enabled speaker mirror before but it worked. Staff were accommodating. Wi-Fi TV with connectivity for Netflix, etc was good though screen small. Appreciated provision of bottled water and make-in room coffee.

Stayed in “double” room top floor 402. For context - we are full time world travelers who live in hotels of varying quality and price points. Bed really not big enough for two and not particularly comfortable (we are not unusually large persons) - I got a blanket and slept on floor a couple of nights. No hotel should have a bed smaller than a queen (unless specified as twin beds). Hated the fact I couldn’t open the window as the room was stuffy, especially at night (blocked only opens about 2 inches; ridiculous!) If because of the birds,child safety, or to prevent litter, put up a screen. Plumbing was weird, toilet required repeat flushing, and sink water flow “stuttered”. I understand remedial pumping to get water to high floors, but shower/bath was fine so something else wrong. We enquired about upgrading to sea facing rooms but they were dramatically more expensive.
