"Disappointing"

1.0

The best part of the stay was the extremely friendly, polite, helpful housekeeping staff and one of the kitchen chefs. They were very considerate of my elderly mother in a wheelchair and they could understand the practicalities of accessibility of caring for someone in a wheelchair.

They do tribute nights for non residents that are extremely popular for additional income. When we arrived back at the hotel one early evening it was impossible to park anywhere remotely near due to the Tribute show plus the Granville theatre was doing a show five minutes from the hotel. The hotel car park is limited parking first come first served. After driving around for twenty minutes in every direction I left my car on double yellow lines at 8pm with a view to moving it at 9pm in the hope an outside non hotel guest would have moved so I could park for the night. When I went down to look for a parking space no more than a 25 minute walk or less away, I had already been given a parking ticket for £70. I would point out to any hotel guest staying there during a tribute night, that traffic wardens probably deliberately monitor this area as they know people going to shows at two places five minutes apart will struggle to park within walking distance in time for the show to start. The residential roads nearby are houses without drives so the residents park in these roads and the rest is all double yellow lines. I spoke to one of the hotel owners, either Hema or Rina and the manager Karen, but they were not interested or even remotely bothered that a paying guest took second place to non residents at a show. They said it was not their concern. They could arrange for parking cones to be provided by the council on these nights to reserve additional parking spaces for their staying guests only, in the road opposite. We were in a room on the fourth floor and could heat the Tribute act in our room over the noise of our TV. Also although there is a lift it was a struggle to even get my mother's wheelchair inside it is so small. I had to take the feet off and go in at an angle and then try and squeeze in behind to allow the door to shut. This lift would not accommodate a larger wheelchair or mobility scooter..

"Fawlty Towers vibes"

3.0

Nice location. The place is like a rabbit warren which was quite endearing. The staff at dinner were very helpful.

Room was incredibly hot overnight. The other room I booked was too. When we opened a window, it was terribly noisy because we had four massive air-conditioning (?) units underneath whose motors made a terrible noise. The car park was full, but we could park nearby. The guy on reception gave us the wrong key cards twice and ignored us when we came in for quite some time.
