Chambercombe Villa - Harbour View, Decking, Garden, Games Room, sleeps 20

Spacious, clean and tidy. Great views.

We had 2 lovely nights in this beautiful villa. We came all the way from Kent to visit Devon. Since we were a large group, we struggled to find a whole accommodation for us, especially this season. But I was very happy when I found Chambercombe Villa. We all enjoyed it and felt we could stay longer. It had a lovely garden where all the kids played and the best part was the huge kitchen with a lovely dining, we enjoyed every meal sitting together and making lots of fun. The beds were very comfy, and it had 2 living rooms, but we mostly enjoyed them in the kitchen. The beach was 15 min away, also you had a lovely view from most of the rooms. I have to mention the neighbours were soo lovely, although we were very loud, that gentleman came down and spoke to us, I first thought he was going to complain about us. But he was very kind and informed that our car windows were open. Also, let us park on his drive. The host Paul was also very kind and answered all my doubts. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to visit Devon with a large group of 20.

The TV was broken in one of the living room., but it did not bother us as our group was busy with games and other fun in exploring the entire villa. We also played hide and seek in it as it had the best places to hide.

Lovely big kitchen which was well kitted and fit everyone, lots of big communal spaces which was great, the house had a nice homely feel and comfortably slept 17 people.

Any more than 17 people requires use of multiple sofa beds which we were not expecting, these were also significantly less comfortable.

Good location, good views looking out to sea. Plenty big enough for 17 family members & dogs. Plenty of dishes, cups etc for us all. Some lovely walks. Had a lovely meal in Hele Bay Pub, only few minutes walk up the road. Owner very helpful as electronic device left behind and that was sent on to us. It was just lovely though to spend time with family in a house big enough to accommodate us all.

A lot of potential for property, needs a lot of updating, some furniture & bath on top floor held together with wood. Pool table can be used with 2 planks of wood to support. Drawer in kitchen broken, could do with a sign on it not to use, as automatically thought it was cutlery drawer, oven could do with a clean, we did give it a good scrub. Bedroom top floor, plaster off wall on floor by side of bed, could have been hoovered up. Left over things in wardrobes/cupboards from previous guests. Front garden gate not secure, so we used some string to stop dogs getting out, very overgrown to get out of the front gate with loose steps. Decking spongy in parts, didn't feel safe in areas. Not the cheapest of accommodation in comparison to other places we have stayed using booking.com

Property is at great location, good size rooms and big kitchen and all utensils.

Host could have fixed few of items like pool / TT table as it was flexible, we couldn’t control it to play either. Internet connection to smart TV was quite poor, basic items like bin bags were not included.

I only liked the area the villa was located in such as the seasides and the scenery. But I found thr house to have unsatisfactory quality.

We requested to check in early between 2-3 pm this was also confirmed by booking.com via email however we reached there at around 4.30 pm, unfortunately when we entered the villa, the interior seemed to not have been cleaned up to a satisfactory standard and it looked as if it was left from the previous guests. I tried to contact the owner who was unaware and surprised that we arrived at the villa stating "nobody had informed him in regards to our arrival" he sent a cleaner at around 5 30 pm to the property to perform a thorough clean however only the bedsheets and quilt covers were changed. The games room was not up to the minimum standard and the snooker table was not stable. My son slept in a room upstairs that had a bunk bed and on the second night he noticed more than a dozen bumps that were patterned like a rash which we believe is due to bed bugs and insects. We could not connect to the WiFi as the written WiFi password in the book was unreadable and I tried to contact the owners and text him but didn't receive a single reply in text. Found it a total waste of money and none of our friends and family enjoyed our stay at the villa and claimed that it didn't feel as if they were on holiday. The parking was also not as convenient as advertised. Additionally, we had to clean the kitchen and the toilet ourselves please refer to the attached photos when we entered the property I hope this matter will be investigated and a compatible solution will be worked out if not I'll take this matter forward where I'll turn to legal help More photos can provided for a proof. The location was great, and the house has so much potential. It was big enough to accommodate all of us. The owners were very quick to respond.

The bathrooms need updating, taps were not working properly, and the toilet seats in two bathroom were not secure. Also one of the room had a broken radiator and water leaked into the carpet. All the bathrooms need modernising. Could do with keeping few extra bedding too.
