I stayed at Al Zaereen Hotel 2 from 4–7 March and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. The hotel’s listing states that check-in begins at 4:00 PM. I even called the hotel around 3:00 PM to confirm that arriving within an hour would be fine, and they confirmed it would be. However, when we arrived at 4:15 PM, the reception simply gave us a slip with a number and asked us to wait in the lobby without any explanation. Despite having a confirmed reservation, we were forced to wait almost two hours after check-in time. The staff were unable to give any clear update on when our room would be ready, which was extremely frustrating after arriving from a long international journey. When we were finally taken to the room, cleaning staff were still inside preparing it, showing it was not ready at the official check-in time. The bathroom condition was also unacceptable: there was cleaning liquid still on the floor and inside the toilet, hair from previous occupants on the floor and in the dustbin, and no toilet paper provided. While I understand hotels in Makkah can be busy during Umrah periods, this does not justify delayed check-in and poor hygiene standards, especially when guests arrive with a confirmed booking. Overall, the experience was far below the standard expected from a property listed on Booking.com.
