Rush Hill Cottage - with parking for 2 cars

This is my second stay, I tried a few places in town centre but will definitely come back to rush hill in future visits to see my daughter at university. Very comfortable beds, parking, garden area, tv easy to use and very clean.

My only comment would be that there is no dressing table/ mirror to do hair/make up, I improvised.

Not a lot, it looked much nicer in the photos but it hasn’t been maintained to that standard.

This is what I sent to the rental company, on two platforms and I haven’t received any reply. I wouldn’t normally be quick to write such a bad review but I did give them a chance to resolve it and I felt we were misled by this listing. In addition to the below, the road was very noisy (single glazed windows), the parking felt like a building site and the house smelled damp (although no current visible signs). Hi Kwik Stay, I appreciate it’s a few days after our visit but we had some issues with the house. First, bits of it were quite dirty (the table cloth and cushions). Also, there was water on the kitchen floor from a leak, we couldn’t work out where from but it never dried. It smelled damp. The dishwasher was faulty - flashing lights and making noises when switched to off. The door handle in the master bedroom came off which is really dangerous. Also it felt unhygienic to not have a door handle at all on the bathroom door as it meant it was open to the kitchen. The fridge was also dirty and one of the dining table chairs was broken. Clean, modern furnishings.

The mattresses were absolutely appalling. Memory foam they were not! They were the hardest most uncomfortable pieces of cheap rubbish I ever had the misfortune to sleep on! Both myself and my husband are now in agony with our backs. Our teens were also uncomfortable, and they can sleep anywhere! In addition to that, the house is situated right next to a very busy main road so if you are not used to a constant loud noise of traffic, you will be struggling from approx 5am. The smell - I get that it’s an old house and the smell has now permeated everything, but there should have been scent diffusers at the very least. The unkempt garden - not a flower pot in sight, just weeds, slightly overgrown grass and a general air of neglect. The parking area looking like a builder’s yard. Loose mortar and mess everywhere. We drove past it a couple of times as the place didn’t look inhabitable. The photos of the house presented on the website are different for the bathroom and living room. The living room has a different couch in it now, with the cushions so thin, it’s uncomfortable to sit on it. Very poor value for money I’d say.
