H S Home Stay

The host was lovely and offered to cook dinner when I arrived. It's a 15-20 minute walk into the city along 1 road so also a good location. The room was large and comfortable, and a mosquito net was provided.

There are a lot of steps to get to the property from the road, so take this into consideration if you need an accessible accomodation. It also said that toiletries were included with the booking but there weren't any, not even hand soap which was disappointing.

Location was great, away from noisy traffic.

Thank you very much to Hiran who made my stay very comfortable. He looked after me since I came, made sure if I needed anything, ordered dinner for me which I enjoyed with the night view over Kandy. The homestay is located at the hill which is amazing for the view. I came to Kandy to see some other places, which was perfect for me to meet Hiran as he is great tour guide and made me company for 3 days for affordable prices.

I needed a quite place to stay and this did not meet my expectations. The room is simple and clean , bed comfy but there is gaps between walls and roof and during my stay it was raining, so I could hear everything, noises from animals in the wild, train which is a bit far but could hear it, neighbours dogs.

The room is huge! Very comfortable bed and bathroom. Walking distance to train + restaurants! The family is so lovely to stay with! And so so so cheap for the quality! Host even picked us up from the station with our luggage free of charge!

Hiran was the most genuine and kind host we’ve come across in our stay, he went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable, including giving me his own mattress (he assured us he had a spare!) to put on the ground when I let him know I was too tall for the bed in the room (I’m 189cm) We had already booked a knuckles trekking tour before we found out he also ran the same tour (through HS Tours), his price was significantly lower so we wished we had booked through him. The room itself is above Hiram’s family home, with amazing views of the Kandy skyline. There are some fairly steep stairs to get to the property as Tuk Tuks struggle to get up and around to where it’s located on Google maps so bear this in mind when booking. If you’re a very light sleeper, possibly not the best option for you as there are small gaps between roof and walls, but we loved waking up as the city woke in the mornings.

The family was exceptionally hospitable.. I got sick during the visit in Kandy, but the family consistently assisted me for my need and checked if I am ok. Hiran is fun humour loving but kind, thoughtful man, and has wonderfully heartwarming family. Hiran can help you organise the tour around Kandy which was nice. Nice room, clean bathroom and had a good rest here.

Low price is a positive I guess, but you get what you pay for.

Accommodation is very basic, huge gap between walls and roof, so feels like sleeping in a tent. Cleanliness is not great, the dusty lamp shade covered with spider webs should really be removed. No towels and toilet paper were provided and owner said we were the first ones to ever ask for tpaper. Surroundings pretty noisy with neighbour playing loud music from 6am till around 10pm.
