OIA Beach Hostel - El Nido

The hostel had a really nice vibe, and the location was amazing, directly on the beach and within walking distance from El Nido.

The place is still under construction, and you can totally feel it. I feel they are focusing too much on the vibes and the look and not enough on very basic comfort. The beds are quite poorly built and are very noisy; the mattresses, although comfortable, don't match the size of the bed. The hallway in between the beds is so narrow that you can barely have one person packing; the lockers are tiny. The common areas look cool, but there is not a single comfortable chair if you wanna sit, and there are only three hammocks for everyone. The food they serve is also not amazing, and there is nothing really clean. There are only three showers and three toilets for the whole hostel. And my biggest issue was that the AC didn't work (when I arrived, they already knew about it, and no one was doing anything about it, just saying: Ah, sorry, yes, someone else already mentioned it is not working well), and it was a room with no windows or any means of ventilation. Moreover, the generator started at night, and the noise was way too loud, at least in my room, which was the closest to the generator. I feel the place is promising, has a nice vibe and is in a beautiful location, but they really need to focus on fixing some basics and improving customer service (I only saw international volunteers with no real interest in the future of the place; local employees would probably be more involved in making the place work well long term).

This hostel feels like a family, had the best 3 weeks there!

Liked it here that much I extended my stay… the hosts felt more like your friends, amazing sea and sunset view here, always something happening here every evening
