LE MAIOLICHE - Apulian B&B

We were welcomed into the gorgeous property by Terri & Alessia & instantly felt at home. The property is situated in the most beautiful part of Grottaglie: the ceramic quarter. Terri & Alessia went above and beyond for us - assisting with Italian-English translation, finding us a good local laundromat at short notice, and providing us with delicious breakfasts! The room itself felt very luxurious and boasted automatic air conditioning (an essential in the 35°C heat!), comfortable bedding, and a beautifully-lit arched stone ceiling. Upstairs on the terrace, we enjoyed the panorama of the local countryside, and marvelled at all of the Pumi sculptures on the buildings around us - a key Puglian emblem. Le Maioliche was the perfect retreat whilst we attended a local festival, and we'd love to stay here again in future if we travel back to Grottaglie!

We needed the double bed separating into two singles after the first night, and it wasn't explained to us that this would cost an extra €20 for laundry until we paid at the end. We would have appreciated if this cost was clearly communicated at the time of our request.

It’s a beautiful B&B with a lovely roof terrace and in a great location. Our room was spacious and the finish of the whole B&B is really high quality. The hosts/staff are very friendly and helpful, and breakfast was lovely.

The room was super super super hot. A truly hell. Even if the owner says the air conditioning as a motion detector because of the government or I don’t know what, the true is that the air conditioning should have been on for a few hours before our arrival. We couldn’t sleep at all; and even with the air conditioning on, the machine the didn’t have enough power for the space. We turned off in the morning to open the windows as it was hotter inside than outside. The best was the owner telling us that she had order the breakfast the night before and we arrive the morning we had no words. A half a peach for each one, a few grapes, a croissant that was heated up in the microwave and small packs of Nutella, butter and cookies. No iogurtes, no bread, juice, cheese or ham, anything. A poor breakfast that I was wondering when was it ordered. Almost a joke. I don’t think they should charge what they charge per night. Even if you stay for one night you have to check out at 11 am and you have no place where to leave the bags…. As we wanted to visit the city and do some shopping, we had to left the luggage in the car with more than 30 degrees. I also didn’t appreciate a kind of control; we should feel that we are home and not in someone’s place.

Beautiful place. New, clean, perfect in every detail. Great owner who cares about guests very much. Perfect location in a beautiful neighborhood. In addition, it is close to all other cities and tourist attractions of Puglia.
