Clare's Cottage Near Cartmel - Dog Friendly, Homely, Aga, Log Burners, Disney Plus & Netflix

As a family we enjoyed our stay at the nook, the cottage was spacious, well-equipped and clean. It was a great base for us to explore the lake Windermere, Cartmel and Grange over the sands. The host Clare kept in contact and there was plenty of information in the cottage. It felt like a home away from home where we instantly felt comfortable and had a great night's sleep too. We will miss our stay at the beautiful Nook cottage.

We were happy overall with our stay with nothing that could have been changed if it was able to.

Great property with plenty of space for 6 people.

There was only one shower in one of the ensuites.

The beds were comfortable, really tasteful decor. Comfy sofa. Log burners lovely to have as they were needed to be cosy.

It’s actual location. We felt it wasn’t suitable if you have dogs or kids. Sadly and it’s not the owners fault, there needs to be stricter speed calming measures. On the single lane road cars sped past with no regard for pedestrians and with only a painted lane for a pavement it was quite treacherous in bad weather or at night.

No key to the back doors, maybe I couldn’t figure it out but the only way into the rear garden was out of the front door and down the side gate. Only a slight annoyance with a small dog.

The house was nicely decorated and the host provided everything we needed while we stayed 3 nights. The highlight for us must be the AGA cooker that we enjoyed using it to cook our dinner and breakfast, sitting in the kitchen with the warmth radiating from it. Clare responded to our messages very quickly and also offer us to check out later as we had our car broken down and waiting for recovery on the last day.

2 bedrooms are located on the 2nd floor.

Had many good attributes but overshadowed completely by standards of cleanliness and smell. Very well equipped.

Had not be cleaned properly and smelt awful, we are not “clean freaks” by any stretch, have rated 4 overall which booking.com class as “disappointing”. This was escalated but was partially blamed on previous guests and told should have complained sooner, no it should have been clean from the off. We cleaned ourselves for speed and to avoid awkwardness with cleaners. Only one stove is in working order and the road outside is lethal with drivers hurtling by day and night even when walking in road, dead badger in centre of village summed it up really. Rubbish/recycling system is chaotic and was asked to reorganise previous guests rubbish as council would not collect, not pleasant and all bins now overflowing on departure.

Like a wardrobe in Narnia small front large inside. Character with its design, comfort, kitchen and living space to have group entertaining.
