K Suites - Colne House

This apartment is directly opposite the harbour, and the view is beautiful. Its location is only a five minute walk from the train station and, in the other direction, 5 minutes to the beach. The beach is absolutely beautiful. The flat itself is decorated very minimally, but has everything you need, with an equipped kitchen, including washing up sponge and liquid, kitchen foil etc, and soap in the bathroom. The wifi was good, the beds were very comfortable and the shower was great too. The owners were very helpful and quick to respond to and sort any queries/issues we had (problems our end!)

All the doors (except the bathroom) are fire doors, which are EXTREMELY HEAVY! Our 12 year old struggled a lot with them, as did we, and opening and closing them was also very noisy. The second bedroom (which also has no windows) had our son in, and we had to wedge this door open with our luggage at night so he could get out to use the toilet.

Lovely big double room over looking the sea. Second bedroom was nice but without a window so hot when we stayed in June.

Really dislike that K Suites use a company called Truvi to “verify” the booking because Truvi rip-off guests. I understand that when renting out an apartment you need to protect yourself however Truvi insist that guests either pay a deposit-waver of £29 (which I decided not to do because I have never damaged a property before so I didn’t see why Truvi should benefit from an unnecessary £29) or I have to pay a £6 transaction fee to Truvi simply to provide them with my card details. To be charged a non-refundable “transaction fee” of £6 simply to provide card details which they can debit IF you damage anything is unnecessarily steep and just a way of stealing £6 from each guest. Occasionally, when booking a restaurant, one has to provide card details, but I’ve never been charged more than 10p when doing so. All my card details are already linked to my Booking.com account so I think that this was an unnecessary precaution and an unfair fee that has left a bad taste in my mouth prior to my stay.

The process of having to pay extra charges for ID checks was not made clear when booking.

The staff are terrible and not helpful at all also you arrive to then be told you have to I'd check and then pay a further deposit to actually even be allow in the building also asked for a late check out which we paid for then only for the cleaners to tell us to leave at the normal time anyway so apartment great staff awful it's a shame I will not return due to the staff wrecked what could of been a very nice weekend

We had trouble with the lock and getting into the property

I loved how spacious and comfortable this was. As we were a group of 4 and only had 2 bedrooms I stayed in the living room, the views outside where beautiful, my favourite part of waking up was looking outside the window to look at the sea! Everything in the apartment was lovely and the staff, I think her name was Faith, was super helpful and really nice!
