One of A Kind Resort @Trikora Beach - Bintan

Het personeel was geweldig. Op een avond werd er op de deur geklopt en stond er iemand van het personeel met gratis ijs voor de deur. Omdat ik zo snel mogelijk weg wou van het afschuwelijke Mutiara "resort" (zie mijn review daar) had ik me een week vergist in de boeking data, waardoor eerst mijn boeking niet gevonden kon worden. Gelukkig kon dat omgeboekt worden. We kregen de transfer op de terugreis geheel gratis als attentie van het hotel. De receptie is altijd bereikbaar en zeer behulpzaam met het boeken van excursies. De huisjes zijn erg ruim, met 2 verdiepingen. Er is een dorpje bij het resort op 1km afstand (is goed te lopen maar als je wat praat met de dorpelingen willen ze je ook wel brengen, achterop de brommer).

Het eten in het restaurant was niet mijn smaak. Het water in het prive zwembadje was niet helder. Daar hebben we echter geen punt van gemaakt, want het resort heeft een prachtig zwembad met uitzicht op de zee. Het water op de kamers werd in flessen geleverd, maar die waren niet verzegeld. We hebben dan ook water gehaald in de warung dicht bij het hotel, dat kost zowat niets.

Staff were very friendly. They have only 1 restaurant but the food and variety was good. I love the sea view and the fact that you can actually walk down to the sea but with caution as the water wasn't very clear. I like that it's very private, quiet and safe. A good place to relax, chill and read a book. Would be good to add a mesh door screen so we can open the sliding door and let the sea breeze into the room without the bugs (and stray cats!). I love the spacious bathroom and automatic toilet with seat warmer and many cool features. Wifi was good.

Need improvements on housekeeping. I am quite disappointed that the bed is smaller than King size. The curtains were very dirty and sticky. The bed linens were stained and I have to request for a change. The bathtub by the big window is only good for photos from far as the faucets were rusty and old. I didn't even want to use it. Most of the power sockets were loose, so I had to be very careful when plugging and unplugging. The water kettle is very dirty. I boiled and changed the water 3 times and there were still stuff floating on top. I end up drinking their chargeable bottled mineral water. I was hoping to do some stargazing at the roof terrace, but the surrounding lights were too bright at night and they do not turn it off. I believe it's for safety since the villa is quite remote. There's no retail shop as mentioned in their website. Would be good to have a small shop selling some local products, light snacks and souvenirs, since the nearest convenient store is about 20mins drive. We ordered room service but there isn't a proper place to sit down to have our meal. There's only 1 high stool (no other chairs) and it's too high for the high table. The roof terrace is nice but quite dirty. No paddle boats or any boats as indicated in their website.

I love villa aqua. Love the room. Very breezy. Love the pool and the spacious toilet. Love the resort room service. We ordered our lunch and dinner in our room on our 1st day. Food was awesome. We basically love everything about the resort. The staff are friendly too. Will come and stay here again!

Nothing except for the location a bit further from lagoi but i don't mind.

We chose the villa for its unique, direct-over-the-water location—ideal for my husband to fish from the deck while I relaxed in the private pool. The beach combing was fantastic, and our family loved discovering starfish, crabs, and clams at low tide. The kids also enjoyed the complimentary paddleboard. The staff were consistently friendly and gave us a wonderful recommendation for a nearby seafood restaurant, which was amazing—great value with fresh, delicious food.

The "5-star" rating feels misleading compared to international chain standards. While the villa concept is great, the execution fell short. For example, the high chair was too tall for the table, and walking space was so narrow we kept bumping into the bed or luggage. Maintenance was lacking, with rusty bathroom fixtures and bed linens that appeared off-white and worn. Most concerning, we all woke up with unexplained insect bites—our friends in the teepee rooms experienced the same. The buffet breakfast was so-so and not fully replenished (though perhaps because we arrived late), and on checkout day it was downgraded to limited à la carte room service. There’s only one onsite restaurant, and both food orders and room service took very long. Also note, the water is murky and disappears completely at low tide. This resort has great potential, but significant improvements in upkeep, space planning, and dining consistency are needed to justify its premium branding.

The receptionist named Intan was the most lovely person. She was so helpful and was great to have her greet me. The area where the villa is located is far from the port however it is peaceful and quiet. It was a really good place to relax. I also loved the 3 cats who live on the property. Loved greeting them at the door each morning 🥹
