#4 The Quirky Quarters

It was in a good area. As the name suggests it does have a quirky layout. It was roomy enough. It was handy having a washing machine.

The drainage for the shower and hand basin was very poor/slow.

It was Flat. Separate bedroom, toilet, and a kitchen with sitting and dining area. There were numerous dining establishments in the area. And the walk to and from the train station and the Historic Dockyard was acceptable,

We had trouble getting into the flat. In the end I found the pin for the keylock, buried amongst numerous other emails I’d received from Booking.com. The drains in the bathroom sink and shower barely worked.

It was straight forward to collect the keys.

We didn’t use the cooker as it was dirty, not cleaned.

Location, everything there for long or short stay 😀

Shower was weak

The property was sufficient for my needs, I had no major issues to deal with.

Not being too criticizing, Just a few things could make it better, 1 It would be great if a floor mop or broom was available to pick up any crumbs and tiny water spills around the kitchen area instead of getting down on my knees with kitchen roll, 2 It would have been nicer to have the tv in the sitting area instead of the bedroom, 3 I found it difficult to open the bedroom windows to air out the bedroom. 4 traffic noise was a bit of an issue. Perhaps in the future, better windows would rectify issue 3 and 4.

Location was great, host replied fast. Easy access via code box.

Heating did not work in the kitchen/seating. It took the property manager 2 days to come and look at it to find out it needs replacing and it could be done tomorrow. I then notified the property manager's husband I will be leaving the next morning, it is a short term rental and not my flat, so I don't need to spend another day in teh cold in the hopes it might be fixed. I made arrangements to go elsewhere. A short time after, the husband came back to the flat and mentioned that I can move to another flat they have nearby and is available tomorrow. I declined because I made other arrangements and also because I was frustrated with how long it took them to find a solution despite me signalling the issue within the 1st hour after check-in. The magic flat because available only after I said I was leaving and found another place. I asked for a refund for the days I was not there, but it was rejected because I was “offered an alternative”. Shower was not very clean. Shower power was rather poor, water was not hot and the drainage was not good to the point of showering in a puddle. Bed cover had stains and hairs on it. Carpet could have used some vacuuming. No compensation was offered. A short term rental is not like a regular flat, things need to be better and actions should be taken faster. This was not the case here.
