EB5 Escape-Contemporary Stay, San Marcos La Laguna #1

The rooms were so comfortable. Comfortable bed, great bathroom, high ceilings, private. A peaceful environment. Great responses from managers, very flexible. The shared kitchen was being remodeled so I was switched to a cabin with a little kitchen. I really appreciated the flexibility of the owner.

I had to walk up three steep streets to get back from town. A tuk tuk would have made it easier but I declined. Other than that, the place was amazing.

We loved our apartment #2 with lake view and the artsy decoration around the property. Housekeeping and maintenance are done by a sweet local family. We were glad about the kitchen access, it wasn't clear from the property description if this was still included. When the shower worked, it was really nice and hot. There's a corner shop with a lovely employee just across the street who sold us better meds than the pricey pharmacy downtown. Yes, this property is in a less developed part of San Marcos, but by no means unsafe. If you are "scared" of poor people, don't come to Guatemala.

The management and organization could have been better, luckily all these things can be improved easily: * The gringo owner was not very responsive to messages on Booking so we had only cold water in the shower for two days. * Our own check-in went great and we received all the info (location, door & wifi codes) in time, but I had to help at least three other guests with the check-in and show them around who didn't get any info from the owner. * The place needs better signage inside and outside. The name "EB5 Escape" is a poor choice, locals don't understand it (and I speak fluent Spanish). The given directions can be improved by just telling TukTuk drivers to drop you at the "Vidriería y Carpintería Marquense" in Bario 2, so easy! We had one person trying to get into our room in the middle of the night because they thought it's theirs. * There was no place to put our luggage and clothes in the room, so everything was lying on the floor and we ended up having a scorpion in our pants ;D * The kitchen needs a deep clean * I believe no one fed the turtle while we were there, I hope it's still alive :D * Trash and recyling bins were unclear

Have a cold shower was hard. Bathroom drainage blocked and water coming up nearly overflowing Steep hill to get to the property No reception (all communication via WhatsApp)

Simple but affordable and with a common kitchen. The upper rooms have a nice view on the lake. Note that to arrive there you need to climb a steep hill.

Fantastic view, jusm make sure you are in the upper unit cause the one below don’t have a view but we were so lucky to be in unit 1 it was a spectacular view!! The unit was very pretty and had everything you need, confy bed, clean washroom and spaceful shower! The message with the direction before arrival helped us finding the location, the phone map was a little deceiving so just follow the instruction that the host sends you! Really really worth it specially for the low cost and high quality!

Nothing bad to say about this accomodation just lots of dogs barking at night and rooster singing but it’s like that everywhere in san marcos and the host also provided us with earplugs so that helped so much!

Beautiful room and view, comfortable bed, very well equipped kitchen. Nice balcony and very clean. We stayed for three nights and loved it.

It was difficult to set a comfortable temperature in the shower. But after trying to set it for a while it worked even though it was very hot.
