The Old Moat Barn - With Private Hot Tub

The barn is beautifully decorated with so much space to use and beautiful high ceilings throughout. The main bed was extremely soft and comfortable. The shower and ensuite were fab. There was a second bedroom with two single beds. The kitchen was well equipped. The living room and bar area was great for relaxing. The outdoor patio with hot tub was a good space, with a log burner and lights. The location was secluded; up a small laneway on a functioning farm, but with a few other houses around. Communication from the host beforehand was good and they offered to be available if needed which was helpful. The property being dog friendly was a bonus, our dogs enjoyed having some space to roam inside and were able to sit on the patio as we enjoyed the hot tub in the evening.

The hot tub has seen better days, the jets only worked on one side which meant only one person could benefit from them at a time. There was also sediment in the hot tub, it appeared to be dust from the stone walls around it. The lid was awkward to lift on and off it too, so if you're not as strong it would definitely be a challenge. There was a tractor passing the property in the morning a few times and it is very close to the airport, so there was noise from these, but nothing to impact our stay.

Quaint property in a small settlement so not too isolated despite being at the end of a single-track road. Easy parking and nice outdoor area. Very well equipped cottage.

The only bathroom being the en-suite off the main bedroom was an issue. Furthermore the layout of the bathroom was not great - the washbasin was way too small and the position of the shelf over was difficult. A second bathroom would be a major improvement. While the hot-tub was well received, removing the cover and replacing it after use was difficult for my friend and I. The sound of the recirculating pump can be heard in the bedroom. I would suggest, because of the poor wireless connection, having a regular TV reception, such as for the bedroom TV would be preferable.

Loved the location and the communication from hosts.

Really not a fan of the 10 pm curfew on the hot tub, especially on a sunny summers evening.

Everything was good, spacious, loved the bbq and kitchen was fab

Hot tub had dead flies inside it was not impressed at all, seemed like no one cleaned the water in the hottub, didn’t like that you could only use the hotub till 10pm even though I’d paid a good decent amount of money.

Amazing location, the property was beautiful. Cosy and warm with some lovely touches. We loved it.
