Clifford House - 4 Bed Home Within The City Walls

The ambience of the house was good, cosy and comfortable as a whole

There's only one bathroom and the other toilet is not located inside the house. The lock of the bathroom is faulty and there was no hot water

Clean, warm, great quiet location and close to all the attractions. Perfect for our needs.

The location is excellent, well located and quiet. The host very responsive and keen to provide solutions to some of the issues we raised. The main bedroom is very attractive and the bathroom is lovely. The house is well supplied with good towels and toiletries and there is lots of hot water when you learn how to work the system - supplying a visitor guide about this sort of thing would help a lot. The house is warm and we enjoyed sitting chatting in the dining area and sitting room.

The advert says two bathrooms but in fact there is only one and an outside loo. The kitchen is described as well equipped and we did email in advance to ask about this. It’s well supplied with crockery and cutlery though even that could be improved by supplying things like a milk jug and serving dishes. It needs more pans, a good corkscrew, a sieve to really justify the description on line. There is one lovely bedroom, two adequate and one very poor on the top floor with no blackout on the velux window. There are a number of other small things which could easily be improved and which would make this house much better and more aligned to the on-line description. Some suggestions are: mending the blind in the smaller first floor bedroom, replacing the missing handle on the bathroom door, removing the owl night light which is a trip hazard, clearing the overflowing box of bottles and cigarette butts from the yard before new guests arrive. We had a great time in York but making these changes would mean staying in this house would become an excellent experience rather than a satisfactory one

Lovely location, very warm with most things we needed.

Parking on the road was very tight, not owners fault but be warned especially with a big car. No way a fire engine could get through! Someone else reviewed issue with bathroom handle and disappointed it had not been fixed.

Everything! A lovely little space with enough room to sleep us all, T.V kept the kids entertained in the evening and a nice short walk into the centre. Although a little chilly given the time of year the outside toilet is a nice touch for larger families!

The only slight downside was that one of the heaters wouldn't come on but that could just be because we didn't know how to work them properly.

Reasonable price so close to city centre, Cosy and well maintained, perfect location. Beds were reasonably comfy and clean property

The hot water system took a while to heat up and didn’t last long enough for 8 people to shower
