PM Octagon Ipoh Suites & Apartment 2

The location is perfect spot for Ipoh tourist sites, shops & eateries. The car space that came with property ( in the middle of town) is very handy. The security processes are reassuring. The property 2 bedder, identified as 8-16-5 is large & airy. Great views from 16th floor. For the above , I gave the property the 5/10. Lots of “buts” which include poorly maintained, inferior repairs & replacement parts; lack of understanding of what a homestay is by the management and absence of basic & hygiene necessities. Such a shame , there is potential to be a very desirable homestay .

Leak in the main ensuite bathroom from ceiling and we were told that water heater over boils. Their solution was to switch off heater when not in use. This shows lack of understanding by management/maintenance. The problem is likely to be a thermostat issue, which needs to be looked into properly, not for guests to operate and work round the defect. The toilet seats swivels in the second bathroom, so does the basin tap. There is no handwash liquid for both bathroom basins. Do people not use soap in bathroom wash basins ? There are no hand towels provided in the bathrooms. There are no bath mats for the bathrooms. Instead a small ( 18”x12”) thin, discoloured towelling cloth were provided. These are hygiene issues. All 4 bath towels are old ,thin, grey ( rather than white) and scratchy. There are no tea towels or kitchen roll paper provided, only a dish cloth & sponge. We had to request more toilet rolls to dry dishes & utensils. Only 4 mugs & 2 wine glasses for drinking crockery/utensils. No cooker. The dining chairs looked good in photos but not fit for purpose. When seated we felt every slat of the seat of every chair ( all 6 of them) . The upholstery cushion on these chairs fail. They need replacing. The owners, management & maintenance managers need to visit this property and not rely on the cleaners to report the condition of the property, furniture, and provision of basic necessities. When I talked to the cleaner/maintenance person who came to fix the the bidet hose leak, he was incapable of understanding of basic necessities asked of him. He kept telling me to talk to owner. No place in the shower cubicle to put the bath gel and shampoo

The location was great and the room is comfortable.

The toilet and shower room left lots to be desired. The shower room was extremely small and my 86kg 6ft 1 inch husband have a hard time taking a shower. The sliding door at the shower doesn’t close entirely as the alignment is faulty. I really find the toilet quite dirty a big turn off. I don’t think I will come back to this Homestay again unless they have improved the condition of the toilet. Such a pity.
